Big problem.

Post » Sun Dec 22, 2013 6:31 am

Well the 2 problems so far for me are:

I cant seem to pick up nirnroot for some reason....

I hired a carriege , climbed in back , but nothing happens,

I got the golden claw, went trough all of the cave learned word etc. ( so thats not the bug) i gave the claw to lucas, it said quest completed but gave no reward, didnt exit conversation automaticly like it should, and now everytime i speak with him i have the option "I got the claw back" even after the quest "finished"

Please help me.

P.S. Tried disabling all the mods, no success.

I'm afraid I can't provide much help, just a warning : disabling mods doesn't mean much, since they're still there (well part of them), stored in you savegames. You have to load one you made before installing those mods.

have you done much?
if not then it's probably a good idea to start again.

In a nutshell, the game is still buggy.

Do you have the unofficial patch(es) installed?

not true, it DOES help and in most cases it does get rid of most of the mod and in most cases completely. the only ones that are sometimes bad are ones with scripts (like quest mods) or if it is a badly made mod that screws with files unrelated to the mod.

OP, might not like the idea, but it sounds as if you have/had a bad mod installed that screwed up the game, files for that save and in this case because the files for that save are screwed up, getting rid of the mod will not help. You will probably have to start over.

Do you save often on new game saves. Sounds to me something got corrupted and that corruption then spread to other actions.

Try going back to an old game save and see if the issues are fixed. You might be able to reload the last save and see if that might have fixed the corruption. But my feeling is that your current game save is just going to get worse.

In regards to removing mods it is not a good idea since most mods will leave trace data in the game save. Some can be removed quite easily and with no effects on the game save while others will just cause more issues and a larger chance for the game to crash.

Disabled them, as we say, deactivated them? You will need to uninstall them completely. Before doing that though... which mods do you use? Put them in spoiler tag, to avoid the infamous wall of text.

Sorry, we can't really help without more information. Post your load order as sorted by BOSS so we can get a look at it and as Atkara said put in spoiler tag. It's very possible and likely that it's mod related, but it may be salvageable without nuking all of your mods.

My BOSS report, concerning the unofficial patches, goes like this:

  • Skyrim.esm
  • Update.esm
  • Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp
  • Dawnguard.esm
  • Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp
  • HearthFires.esm
  • Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp
  • Dragonborn.esm
  • Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp

As of version 2.0.0, the unofficial patches have been turned into fake .esms, to circumvent certain limitations of the game and therefore, they're placed like this. Are you sure you didn't move these plugins around by yourself?

If that's from BOSS it's not working properly. That load order is messed up and is definitely a big cause of your problems right now. Run it again and choose "BOSS Log Format: Plain Text". Then copy/paste into spoiler tags on this thread. Also, at some point you might want to update to the latest unofficial patches if you haven't already.

Quick question, I do not see Skyrim.esm in my data files. I have all the patches and the unofficial ones. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but I bought my game from Walmart the first day so, I have the dvds.

If you're using the Skyrim Launcher there's no problem since it won't list it. If you're using the latest Unofficial patches you'll want to use BOSS to sort them correctly.

If you deactivated SOS, that would explain at least part of the problem. One of the SOS files is known to "bake" data into your game save that will cause problems if not outright CTDs if uninstalled.

I don't see the Unofficial Hearthfires Patch in your load order, or the Unofficial High Resolution Patch. All of the USKP project is designed to work together, and this could be causing some problems.

Thanks, I do use the launcher.

Okay let me state upfront that when it comes to the world of mods (I’m 55) I use the steam workshop because I have no idea how any of this stuff works. I have only downloaded the patches and after that some mods about three months ago, even though I have played Oblivion and Skyrim for years. My husband put the unofficial patches in the launcher. I read up on the load order so I had that going for me before I found out that I needed BOSS. Downloaded BOSS and booked marked the link it gave for me. It has always put new mods at the bottom of the load order. No worries I thought until I bought some of the DLC last month and it put them at the bottom, also the unofficial patches for them. Do I need to delete BOSS and start over or is there something I need my husband to shuffle around for me?
