Archery range

Most of you may know that when you fire an arrow at long range it will only deal damage up to a certain distance. If it travels further than this distance it will just go through the targeted NPC.

So I stocked up on hundreds of arrows and a got myself a decent Bow.
I used the restoration loop to get sneak in the millions so I could move without being noticed.
I found a Sabre Cat that had no idea I was there.

I fired an arrow but I missed so I changed the angle but still missed. Then I saved
I took a small step and fired again but missed changed angle, fired and missed. Then I saved
12 arrows and 6 steps and 6 saves later I fired a 13th arrow which hit the target. The target died and was sent across the grass so I loaded the last save and fired arrows (killing each time) repeatedly until I got a kill which didn't ragdoll. 8 attempts later I got a kill which made it fall to its side instead of ragdolling.

I drop a book where I fired the arrow from then dropped guard armour in line with a dead tree. I go back to the book and stand on it then pick it up.

Nord hero bow and ancient Nord arrows. level 22 archery.

Lucky PC users and their ini tweaking thingy so arrows don't travel through targets. :(

I used to hate seeing my arrows do no damage to distant targets even though they appeared to hit them. Then I built a PC

This was one of the first ini tweaks i used, along with removing the compass. Nothing better than those long distance kills.

I don't remember ever missing a well-aimed shot at that distance... maybe it's just poor memory on my behalf.

You know what makes it a bit worse is that this only applies to shooting something living, I was able to hit a hanging blacksmith sign from just within the line of sight where 1 or 2 steps back and it would disappear from sight...the only way I know I hit it was a blurry small fireball that's supposed to be the sparks on contact but appears like a fireball at a distance and also the sign swinging.

It's a lame balancing decision they made even though this isn't a multiplayer shooter. :stare:

I really wish people would stop using the 'PC Masterrace' thing. It doesn't come across as 'Look how much better PC is' it comes across as 'Look at me, I'm a produce PC NAZI. Let me be all supremacist at you'.

A PC has no place in a "console war" anyways. A PC isn't a console. People who think otherwise, that's ok. We've all different opinions.

Anyways, back on topic:

The only thing that really fails archery related are enemies "sidestepping". I actually thought it was a perk, the very first few days.

I've also had a lot of arrows flying through targets. Then I got noticed and had to run for my life. Probably just me, but even at an acceptable distance, arrows tend to fly through targets. I remember having such issues a while ago.
