Um..ok...

Took a huge break from Skyrim (like, 2 months). Came back, jumped on my usual character (which I should mention is quite old), had to go to Solstheim for a quest, got there and it lagged so bad (like a slideshow, literally) I had to abandon the quest and fast travel back to Skyrim where all was well and perfect. Either my PS3 HDD is getting old or I'm just crazy. Funny how Solstheim worked perfectly awhile back.

Try clearing your cache.

You may also want to try to refresh your current save's memory. Do this by going to any interior location(preferably a safe place, like your house) and use the wait feature to wait 30 days.

I assume you don't clean up the game, do you?

Warning: I've no idea if this is the same as it goes with the X-Box. If you've experience with this, and know it only deletes patches, proceed.
If you're not sure, I'd advise to use Google.

  • While in the Playstation 3 Cross-Menu Bar (XMB) navigate to the ‘Game’ section.
  • Scroll through this section until you find a folder called ‘Game Data Utility’
  • Open the folder to populate the Game Data list
  • Scroll though the Game Data list until you find the game that you are looking for
  • With the game entry you need highlighted, press the Triangle button
  • An options menu associated with the game you have highlighted will appear on the right hand side of the menu.
  • Select ‘Delete’ and press X to confirm.
  • Once you have deleted the cache data you will then be prompted to re-install the missing data when you next play the associate game.

You mean reinstall the patch?

Then you also have to download and install all the DLC.

This does not seem like a save thing to do on a PS3 system. I advice cautiousness when doing this.

I do not own a PS3 and I thought it does the same as the X-Box 360 does. I'll add a warning. According to *shudders* EA, it only deletes patches.

there's also a certain button combination that deletes the game cache(which I believe stores data as you progress, becoming clutter after a while)

But I forgot the PS3 combination. I might be able to view my history and find it.

Sorry, I cannot find anything related to the button combination on PS3.

EDIT: Apparently, the PS3 clears it every time it's shut down.

Another edit: Oops, I was supposed to edit my post, but copy and pasted something in the "reply topic" box, and posted a new post :wallbash:

It's safe. I've done it numerous times. On occasion, it fixes bugs.
