A question to those who have done it. How did your roleplay explain the fact that your character is a noob again?

I also wonder if people ever consider this issue.

Human Vampire gone to sleep for a while. Wakes up weak.
Elves that carry over from Oblivion are made powerful quickly by powergaming for roleplaying reasons.

Being a noob again is not much of an issue. How do you explain a character being still alive 200 years after the Oblivion crisis, if he doesn't belong to a race that has not a very long life span?

Perhaps a character in Skyrim has a distant relative from Oblivion?

I just go from the assumption that this is something you normally only do if your character is a elf. Or a vampire, but often an elf.

I find that the game doesn't have a very noticeable character progression. Playing the game as a level 1 is pretty much the same as playing the game as a level 30 to me. The only real noticeable change is with magic/spells.

I guess I can see why it wouldn't make sense. I mean, your character had 200 years to hon and perfect his/her art. Unless he/she got extremely lazy and just lounged around doing nothing, he/she would be at least lvl. 100 by the time of Skyrim.

I guess maybe your character could just be 'holding back' in the earlier levels and then over time, show his/her full powers when in higher levels.

He drained his powers into the Blade of Olympus. Or he fell onto the Styx and the souls of the dead drained his powers.

There are dozens of way one can live for that long. Let me name a few of the top of my head.

• Being a member of a long-lived race (an Altmer, Dunmer etc.)
• Magic (there are numerous characters who have managed to prolong their life with various applications/forms of magic)
• The Nerevarine does not age after having been cured of Corprus (and he is the protaganist/PC from The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind)
• Vampirism
• Spending time in a realm where time does not function at the same rate as on Nirn (a Plane of Oblivion or an "Outer Realm")
• Hircine's Ring allowed Tharsten Heart-Fang to live for "generations"

There are plenty of other methods to prolong one's life, all it requires is a little time and imagination.
