Being a noob again is not much of an issue. How do you explain a character being still alive 200 years after the Oblivion crisis, if he doesn't belong to a race that has not a very long life span?
I just go from the assumption that this is something you normally only do if your character is a elf. Or a vampire, but often an elf.
I find that the game doesn't have a very noticeable character progression. Playing the game as a level 1 is pretty much the same as playing the game as a level 30 to me. The only real noticeable change is with magic/spells.
He drained his powers into the Blade of Olympus. Or he fell onto the Styx and the souls of the dead drained his powers.
There are dozens of way one can live for that long. Let me name a few of the top of my head.
There are plenty of other methods to prolong one's life, all it requires is a little time and imagination.
