Hunters Guild & Archaeology Guild (Post Launch Ideas)

Post » Fri Dec 27, 2013 7:13 pm

In addition to adding the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood post-launch, it would be awesome if the developers added…

Hunters Guild

Basically, this NPC Guild would lead you on a series of quests to hunt rare and unique beasts. Imagine it takes an hour to hunt down and kill a rare animal. In addition to adding hundreds of hours of new content, a new Hunter Skill Line would be added. This skill line would allow access to active abilities such as Animal Companion (e.g. summon wolf), Tracking Animals, Tracking Humanoids, Hunting Trap, etc.

Archaeology Guild

Basically, this NPC guild would lead you on a series of quests to explore numerous excavation sites scattered throughout Tamriel. Players must travel around the world uncovering ancient artifacts, many of which have interesting tidbits of lore. The quests are rather difficult, requiring players to solve numerous puzzles and not relying on quest markers. Also a new Archaeology Skill Line would be added as well. This skill line could have passive abilities such as Treasure Sense (slightly increases the amount of gold dropped by monsters) and Magic Sense (slightly boosts the odds of finding higher quality items).

Thoughts?

i am all for more options so i like both ideas. the game will need to expand to survive and to do that it will need to add things not found in previous elder scrolls lore. i just hope the ESO community understands that

Hunters guild sounds nice but what lvl should you be able to join and what lvl should the beast be? The skill line for animal companion sounds all right but not the Tracking Animal or Tracking Humanoids just not lore friendly, Traps are a good idea.

There are all ready Ayleid Ruins so how would Archaeology work in this.

I wouldn't mind having this kind of thing... more skills is always good, and these are conceptually tied together well. The only danger I see is that this kind of thing might count as one of the guilds we can belong to. If the limit on number of guilds we can belong to is ~player~ guilds and things like the mages guild don't factor into that at all, then I have NO objections whatsoever. :)

Only quibble might be that whenever you deal with specific creatures or locations you run the risk of having other people competing with you for those resources --- intentionally or not. You may spend an hour following mission points (clue here, clue there, etc) and finally find the monster you're supposed to fight.... only to find some random guy killing it because it was standing near a mining resource node or something. Or the rare archeological find you're sent to investigate has twelve other player characters running around it at full tilt. :)

The Mages Guild is all about archeology!
If you'd take the exploration of ancient ruins from the Mages Guild there would be nothing left expect for studying books, which is rather boring...

Hunters Guild sounds fun but I think this could overlap too much with the Dark Brotherhood, which nearly is a hunters guild, just that they hunt humans.

There should be some hunting spirit in the game. When all mobs just stand waiting for anyone who approach them, then hunting is a froth. Unless it is - I do not know how current beta looks. But if we got hunting then we can also have hunting guild later.

Archaeology, beside name of guild, I guess players will want to do all quests. So skills: the skills are not something that you just want to fill all, they are primary to decide what you specialization will be. Will anybody want to specialize in small boost of gold? Seems too weak to build some interesting option.

I think they should go ahead with actual ES lore factions 1st (and trust me, there are PLENTY). No need for WoW features like archeology right now

Hey, you know what would be awesome, a haunting guild for ghosts, werewolves and vampires only. :D

Hunters guild, yeh maybe, archaeology guild? Nah, that's one of the things the mages guild does.
