Radiant Quests - Battle Mage

Post » Sun Dec 29, 2013 5:56 am

I am new to the game and intend to be a Breton Battlemage. I am still uncertain what is the best path to take to level up my skills (one hand combat and destruction spells). I have taken the first two main quests, but I feel unprepared to go to the third quest Bleak Falls Barrow without levelling up my skills.

Is taking the Radiant Quests a good path to prepare my character for the main quests? Can a low level character enter the College of Winterhold? If not, what level is adviced before going there? Thanks for your thoughts!

Looks like a good plan. Do the quests whenever you feel ready. Bleak Falls Barrow as well as the next 2 or 3 quests are tutorial quests so you should be fine and guilds also start with tutorial quests so you should be fine there too.

Firstly.

Welcome to the forums! have a fishy stick http://www.uesp.net/wiki/General:Fishy_Stick

As for the question.

1) the side quests in the game will be okay for training but I'd say just go out and explore stuff, fight bandits, kill bears and wolves!

2) The collage of winterwold can be joined at any level BUT, don't go Until you have some good leveled Maigckia.

Battlemage basically = destruction, conjuration & armor as the three main ingredience.

I only use bound weapons for battlemages as I like my battle"mages" to be actual "mages".

THis^ also, if you are willing, battlemages can also fit into the companions, and you can get a nice battleaxe from doing that questline as well as some other nice earlygame equipment, combined with the college stuff, you can easily make a great battle mage.

If you want to tune-up the magic side of your battle mage, then by all means go to the college. The reasons are

Spoiler
The quests may be hard at first, but you will get some stuff to help you along, like an amulet that takes 3% off you casting spells, and a ring that adds to your health, and a set of robes that gives destruction casting % decrease with magicka regen, and a hood that adds to your magicka, all for free.

Plus the quests will yield a lot of magic stuff. Just save often.

Go to the COW at level 1 if you wish and start getting your magic skills together as early as you can would be my advice. A battlemage is also a good playstyle to learn about the game as well if you're fairly new to it. Best of luck with your character and welcome to the forums.
