Errors after installing Hearthfire, Dawnguard and Dragonborn

Hi all,

I treated myself to all three DLC for Xmas as they were all on sale (£16, not bad) but have come across a few problems. I played for a day or two before going back to finish some of my old quests. I wanted to cure myself of the werewolf blood, but the quest 'Purity', though still incomplete, is shaded out and in the complete list. The thieves guild quests are active still, but older instructions like "Speak to Brynjolf about joining the thieves guild" have reappeared and are unachieveable. But most annoyingly, whenever I try to get a companion to join me, they say "It looks like you already have someone with you."

I've tried reloading to a few different saves, managed to get Farkas back to start the purity quest, but he won't join me. I'll try a few more earlier ones to see different results.

Should I just start over with a new character? Am a more likely to have a bug free experience with the DLC? I'm only level 46 so far, so it's not so much to skip back...just 193 hours according to steam. Any suggestions or fixes for the problem welcome.

~D

For the follower problem: Your companion must be stuck somewhere during the mission, if you wait a couple of days, you should get a message telling you that your companion got bored and went home.

Then, you should be able to recruit a new companion.

I assume you have the Unofficial Skyrim patch installed, and because you bought the DLC's, i advise you to install the unofficial patches for those too. !!!!

If Farkas still will not offer any work, purity quest nor radiant quest, go and speak with Aela and do a quest for her. This will unlock Farkas' quests.

I have found that sometimes loading a character from the stock game to one with the DLCs can cause weirdness but may not repeat. Try loading the character again, and then maybe an earlier one and see what happens.
