Beginners help with Skyrim

Post » Sun Dec 29, 2013 1:55 pm

I just recently started playing, and I already have some qualms about some things.

Is 4th level early to be revealed as Dragonborn?

I was helpful, but not not decicive in the fight that killed the dragon at the watchtower. And now I can expect random dragons to be dropping in on my lunch break? I can handle being challenged, but this seems a bit over the top.

Do randomly found dungeons scale to the PC's character level? Or all encounter areas pre-set?

On my way to meet the Greybeards (also too early?) I ran across a tomb. With a Dark Elf Necromancer who seems to be way above my pay-grade. Is this the normal course of things in Skyrim?

That is enough for now, but keep in mind that any comparisons to other games will be over my head unless you reference Daggerfall.

By the way, it feels good to be back here after a long abcence. I hope to see some old freinds and meet some new ones. Peace all!

1- Yes. I would also recruit a follower to help you out.

2- Yes. Some dungeons will be set at your level and others won't. Be careful.

1. does not matter really, Dragons in the Vanilla game are not really that hard, you also tend to have help from guards and if you have a follower, Dragons tend to attack them intead of you.

2. sort of, most dungeons have certain level that they will scale with. for example, one might be on a scale from level 10 to level 24, which means it would always be at LEAST as strong as a level 10 player, but never weaker, BUT will never scale past Level 24.

3. HOW did you play daggerfall, the controls are atrocious.

I find Skyrim controls difficult to adapt to. I understand that WASD is second nature to gamers everywhere, but I am not counted amongst that group. But I will adapt.

You can remap your controls to use other keys on your keyboard. Many gamers do it. It only takes a few minutes.
