The house isn't there!

Post » Tue Dec 31, 2013 6:46 am

I apologize in advance if I posted this in the wrong forum, I'm not a frequent visitor of the forums and am relatively clueless as to how thing are done here.

My house in Morthal disappeared. As a matter of fact, it wasn't there in the beginning. I built the small house (main hall), and after I turned around to find the work bench (or enter), the whole thing wasn't there. I have tried reloading, returning from different locations, etc. I browsed this forum, but failed to find anything similar to my issue - but then again I may have entered the wrong key words.

I'm running the latest patch on PC with bucketfull of various mods and all DLC's. Maybe it's the mods, but in a previous game I did not encounter this issue when I constructed a house in Falkreath.

Sorry to have taken anyone's time, please help if you know what the bloody ruckus is going on. Thanks.

OK, we'll have to start from the beginning here to figure out what the problem is. Don't uninstall or make drastic changes to mods, patches or ini tweaks before we can get a general idea of the state of your game please.

If you could post a BOSS log of your current mod list it would certainly be helpful. You could also help things along by listing any of the third party utilities/tools (e.g. BOSS, TES5Edit, Bash, etc,.) that you have installed.

I'm a bit embaressed right now, but frankly I have no knowledge of what a BOSS log is. I also do not recall installing any third party utilities at all (I am not a sophisticated user), sorry.

If it might help, I discovered that the Misc quest entry in the journal sais "Go to the drafting table to begin building your home" or something like that, which I saw before building anything. It may be far fetched at this point, but it seems likely to me that the issue may have to do something with a broken quest, so I tried to find the quest ID so as to console-command it back to the first stage. However, I could not find an ID as of yet. Does it seem an advisable thing to do?

That's a lot work to do. !!!!!

> but in a previous game I did not encounter this issue when I constructed a house in Falkreath. <

Do you mean on a second character, second walk-trough or on a older save. ?????

(with exact the same mod's ????)

----------------

So, something simple to try.

Have you installed the unofficial Hearthfire patch ???? If not download it from here: http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/files/file/657-unofficial-hearthfire-patch/

After that do not install it....

Load a save before you constructed your main hall of your house.

wait for 31 days (in-game) (it's the letter "T" on your keyboard)

After that make a new manual save. Exit skyrim.

Install your unofficial Hearthfire patch. !!!!!

Load the save you have created and travel something close to Falkreath.

Then walk until your reach Falkreath, and try to build your main hall again. !!!!!

Tell us what happen. !!!!!!!

Thanks, I'll try this. The Falkreath house was on a second character. The mods weren't exctly the same, but most of them were (80-90%).

Also, in this save the issue is with Morthal - I used Falkreath as an exmple of a functioning Hearthfire expansion.

Here's the thing, have you installed any mods? It's something that we need to establish right from the start. Don't concern yourself too much with the current quest since we really have to set a baseline for reference before we proceed.

I would suggest you to load a save before you had those missing hall problems, for best results...

The rest as above....

No, please don't do anything! Don't try a bunch of unrelated and/or ham-fisted attempts to fix a problem since we don't even know what the problem is yet.

I would suggest him, to make a load order, and a tes5edit bla, bla bla, but because he's not knowing how, i prefer to try this, only because he hasn't any CTD or freeze, and that's encouraging. !!!!! LOL

If he has problems again then we could dig deeper... (Only a suggestion.... :D)

------------

And as you can see from my suggestion, there will be no harm after all this.

Actually it's a patch install, resetting cells and load a not problematic save.

But be my guest....if you want to suggest anything....No problem with that. !!!!!!! LOL

------------

Keep in mind, if it's not working, then it's your turn. !!!!!

Yes, I understand Mark41, but let us suppose that you go to a doctor and say that you feel pain in your big toe (right foot). Would you want the doctor to ask questions? Or do you want the doctor to amputate your leg? Or even to send you home with instructions to take some aspirin? That's the value of asking questions so that you try to establish what's wrong before you prescribe a remedy.

I give him the aspirin, and you can amputate his leg. (just kidding....)

So, you want more facts from OP...OK then.

Yes, that is exactly what is required. Let's try to figure out what the problem is before we recommend a solution.
