Skyrim PC Running Issue

Post » Tue Dec 31, 2013 2:28 am

So I just bought Skyrim for PC and I just got the ability to move and all I do is run, consuming stamina. I thought maybe hold shift to move normally but instead that makes me walk very slow. How do I get rid of it from doing this? I don't want to waste stamina every second of the game, and I don't even know how to run if I was walking normally.

Running doesn't consume stamina, sprinting does but you cannot always sprint.

I think it is the Caps Lock key that toggles Always Run/Always Walk, but you have to use another key to Sprint. The Left Shift Key can make you Walk if your set to Run, or Run if your set to always Walk. Check the Controls section in Game Options as I may have remapped mine.

I can't remember the last time I walked in this game, as I am always set to Run. I also never Sprint in this game, mostly because I forget that I can.

Walking on your PC is managed by the Caps-Lock key Sir. Assuming no re-mapping of keys

Caps-Lock On - Walk normally

Caps-Lock-Off - Walk very slowly

Caps-Lock On and then Shift + W to Run.

Worried about Stamina? Upgrade it each time you level-up or stock up on Restore Stamina or Fortify Stamina potions.

There was an interesting debate in October about the relevance of Stamina. Search Forum to locate. Original Poster: "Jesuis Cache-Cache"

You probably play in First Person. Pull out to Third Person to see the difference in Gait.

What you call Walk Normally is the games Run. Yes, to actually Walk anywhere in this game is painfully slow.

Are you sure your Sprinting or Running? Sprinting is more of a hunkered down with a depth of field affect similar to Whirlwind Sprint and you pant after a while. In game Running is like a jog.

If your are always sprinting, then reset your keyboard controls to default if you remapped them. If you have software like Intellitype or other Keyboard software, try disabling it before running the game. Sometimes just updating the software sorts things. Finally, swap out the keyboard, preferably for a wired one, and see if things improve.

First of all, I didn't re-map my keys, second of all, I know I'm sprinting because my stamina goes down and I pant. I have played this game on console I get how to tell running from sprinting.

Extra Note: I have a Laptop, so no wired or wireless keyboards.

No need to get bristly here, just covering all the bases. We are not at your house to check all these things out.

Try the other keyboard things I mentioned. Also, make sure the Rumble and the Gamepad are disabled in the Game Options, they will mess with your movement in the game (stuttering more than anything else)
