BOTS GM DM Question

Post » Wed Jan 01, 2014 6:14 am

I am a hard core single player person, so I am trying out different MMO's to see what they are like -- UI, Guilds, Playing with real People, Life on the Game's forum, etc

I was just reading the other day that some people are very upset about "BOTS" and how they "farm for gold" This MMO is a F2P one, so accounts are dime a dozen. In a sub based game, accounts are little harder to get (because of paying real money for it)

How are some questions about ESO and BOTS

1) How will ESO handle those?

2) Why farming for gold is so bad? //Yes, I am a MMO noob =P

3) The idea of having trusted players who can act like mods / DM / GM to help to "police" ESO. This is the same logic why we have mods on this forum. (And they do a good job too =) ) May be they can help to do "world events" also

4) Why such hate for bots?

Thanks =D

1) No one but ZOS can tell you this

2) Because these bots sell the gold for real money

3)Having players have the ability to "police" the game just leads to abuse. No, I don't want players having that type of power. That's why companies pay people to be GMs.

4) Because they are gold sellers.

You're going to have gold farmers/sellers in ESO, the sub won't stop them, as long as people buy in game currency, they'll keep farming and selling them.

Best way to handle them is through discretion, look for characters that walk/run in an almost computerised fashion, or who act strangely, or never reply or similar things, report them to GM's is the best way to go about it, as they'll look into it and take further action if necessary.

Farming gold is bad because it harms the in game economy, when you can get infinite amounts of gold at the click of the button and a bank account, it takes it away from actually earning in game.

Again, all players should just use discretion, and report any suspicious behaviour.

The mods on this forum are not paid by the company to this police this forum, why is the different about having someone like that in game as well? They will have to report to a person who is paid by ZOS so that the power abuse will not happen. I am pretty sure how mods on this forum work like.

A forum is way different than a video game.

Not sure what you're saying exactly, but the GM's in game will be under ZOS' payroll, as well as when the official forums open, they'll have some moderators/admin as well, but yeh, the policing is completely different between a forum and a game.

These two posts are spot on. Not only do gold farmers ruin the in-game economy, they're annoying as hell. Whether you're in a city packed with people, or romping across the wilderness supposedly miles from anywhere; having the messages pop up in rapid succession offering you $1mil Gold for only $29.99 gets damn annoying real quick.

But as AH93 mentioned, the Bots are pretty easy to spot once you know what to look for. Simply report them to the game's GM/DM teams and move on with your adventure.

There is a vast difference between Forums and in-game play. You put regular (i.e. not-paid-by-ZOS) gamers in that kind of position of power within the game, you'll see a whole new kind of evil.

No, best to let ZOS pay people to moderate the game (which, BTW... I'd be more than willing to work for you guys, ZOS! :D lol) and not have to worry about insane Gods going on temper-tantrum-rampages because they couldn't extort something out of the players.
