Just curious as to if there is any footage out right now of someone using the short rifles. I've also been a sniper at heart and I really want to know if it's been showcased in Brink yet. I'm really interested to see what direction they go in when it comes to sniper rifles.

well, as there will be no "Sniper Rifles" so to speak, there wont be any gameplay of them but, you can put sights on scopes to increase aiming, but the developers said that they wereb't going to implement snipers for the reason that they didnt want their beautiful characters appearing as small pixles on your screen as you sit and snipe from 100 yards away

When I used the words "sniper rifle" in my post I really meant short rifles. But any way the developers want to make it i'll always call them sniper rifles. The short rifle is basically their rendition of a sniper rifle and i don't understand why they can't call them sniper rifles.

Because even though they have the appearance of sniper rifles they are not supposed to function like sniper rifles, thus they are not sniper rifles.

Because they aren't sniper rifles. Period.
They will be more effective in close-combat than sniper rifles, because they're combat-rifles (like the M14).

Or Designated Marksman Rifles, they are used for targets outside normal assault rifle range but under optimal sniper rifle range, or as a squad support weapon.

I hate in a lot of games how people can use pistols and SMGs to take you out across the map. I kind of wonder HOW exactly the range on weapons are limited. Because you shouldn't get pinpoint accuracy out of a sidearm on long distances. Battlefield is one such game I'm thinking of.
