What Book(s) Are You Reading #3

Post » Wed Jan 01, 2014 10:07 pm

Continuing the previous reading thread, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1472256-what-books-are-you-reading-2/.

I haven't had a chance to do a whole lot of reading lately, thanks to moving during the peak of the holiday season. Hopefully things will settle down a bit for me and I can get started going at it regularly again. I still have The Hobbit to finish up, and from there I'm thinking about picking up The Silmarillion.

In the meantime, please keep those titles coming. I've picked up quite a few that have gotten tacked onto my "to read" list just by following these threads. :D

This one. I goofed up the tags on the first one and asked the mods to delete it. Apparently even with their mod superpowers they can't edit tags.

As mentioned at the end of thread #2, I've not been in a mood to read for over a week. I've attempted fantasies and histories to no avail. In desperation I have returned to what is almost certainly the first novel-length book I ever read by choice, "The Memoirs of Berlioz" as translated from the French by the late David Cairns. As mentioned in another reading-centric thread, it was Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique that cemented my love for classical music, and later guided me to Beethoven. He was an excellent writer, and an utterly fascinating individual. Whether I'll stick with it or remain in my slump remains to be seen.
