Bundle of Joy 112014

Post » Thu Jan 02, 2014 2:08 pm

So I'm a Grandfather now for the first time.

Our son's daughter arrived this morning at 10:40 AM. His girlfriend was in labor about 12 hours total. She had a smooth delivery when push came to shove.

Her name is Mariah Jane.

7.2 lbs = 3.27 kg = 'bout that big.

20" = 50.8 cm = 'bout that long.

She came out screaming, I'm told.

Ten fingers, ten toes, and perfectly healthy.

We were at the hospital for about 7 hours waiting...with very little sleep.

My son was suppose to get off work at 7:00 AM and the woman who was suppose to be there for her shift was no call, no show.

His manager had to come in and work so he could go. My son was naturally APOPLECTIC. He got to the hospital at about 8:30AM, so in plenty of time.

She was not the first baby born in our area in 2014. A set of twins claimed the honor, but I don't know what time they arrived.

We are all so very happy.

Uhh, congratulations, I suppose? Is this my cue to say something?

Growing up, I'd hate a birthday like this, even though it's cool to be on the first day of the year. I'd get less presents. Kids with less presents=not happy kids

Hah! I was born on the 2nd of January and never did I resent having a birthday this early on. As a kid stores never really opened up until on the 3rd of January because where I live the 2nd of January used to be a day for counting inventory for pretty much every store out there.

Many kids with exotic birthdays just throw the party on the next weekend after their birthday so it's not really any sort of an issue either way. And even with less presents they can be plenty happy. :P

Congratulations on the kid Aquan!

Perhaps you are right, Ellert. I guess if you haven't experienced something, you don't know what you are missing out on.

LOL.

My son works the front desk at a fairly upscale hotel in Ann Arbor, and today was the http://www.ctpost.com/sports/article/Maple-Leafs-beat-Red-Wings-in-snowy-Winter-Classic-5107053.php at Michigan Stadium (The Big House), so it was a very busy and trying night for him dealing with a bunch of drunk Canadians. The hospital she delivered at is in Ypsilanti, so we didn't have to go into Ann Arbor at all, which would have been a nightmare for traffic.

Incidentally, the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2.

thanks you guys.

I suppose the only practical advise I could offer you is not to impregnate a girl during the month of April. On second thought, no six for you all Spring....just to be safe.

That is great advice, actually. The closer it lands to the mid month, the better!
