Hey everyone, so recently, I`ve come to realize how inherently flawed the games are, now don`t get me wrong, I love the games, I loved them since Morrowind. I just wanna know if anyone else shares the same opinions as I do. Now bear in mind, I know that certain mods address some of these issues but still.
So first off, now I know that they put lots of effort in writing the storylines, (including the factions) but I just feel that they could do so much more, at the moment after having played Skyrim, I feel like Bethesda may be choosing quantity over quality, now I know that quantity has always been a part of the Elder Scrolls games, but wouldn`t anyone else prefer quality? I mean they already have so much lore, I feel like they could use that to their advantage and create an outstanding storyline. Another thing is, the factions storylines kinda lacked for me, I liked the thieves guild and mages guild storyline, I felt like they were done quite well, but the companions and Dark Brotherhood lacked a lot depth. Of all of the quests given in the Elder Scrolls series, I felt that some of them were well done, but they were never excellent. If they just took some more time in writing, I feel like the game would be close to perfect. Now in Skyrim, the combat has been the best it's ever been, but let's be honest here, IT svckED. I mean, I just hit a guy with a 30 pound hammer and he didn't even flinch! And don't even get me started on archery, I stuck a guy in the head with so many arrows, and he walks it off. Really? I know you don't want to make it too easy, so implement something along the lines of this; let's say you shoot a guy in the head with an arrow, or hit him in the head with your weapon, he should die. But let's say he's wearing something like a steel helmet, well then, OK, he can take it, make the arrow bounce off, and make the weapon glance off, I know this is incredibly hard to implement due to the fact that the game is in first person, (i know there's a third person, but I'm addressing the first person) but the bouncing arrows thing, wouldn't be too hard. Now that's only an example, but honestly, the combat system needs to be upgraded, I don't want to be swinging at air, which is what it pretty much looks and feels like, simply because although there may be blood splatters and sound effects, there is no actually visual cue that he's been hit.
The sneak system svcks too, I'm sorry but it really does svck, cause I highly doubt that a guys gonna think the wind killed his buddy, or shot an arrow in his face. That needs to be improved on.
Another thing is, the enemy variety, I would love to see more of a variety, not just different versions of certain enemies, because they're fundamentally the same thing.
Something else I would like to see addressed is IMPACT, in Skyrim, right after you saved the world, some guard tells you "no lolly-gagging", k fine, maybe he's just jealous, but didn't it bother anyone else that there was absolutely no reaction from the public? They should do something about it.
One last thing, is balance, I feel that in a game, there should always be something stronger than you, because it doesn't matter who you are, there's gonna be someone or something that's better than you at something, therefore, I feel that there should be a cap, now this is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but hear me out, in Skyrim, you could break the game with smithing, ok, that's fine... K, I lied, that's not fine, you shouldn't be able to make a weapon that does 99999999 damage at level 15 one handed, that's not ok, that's the fastest way to break the game. So as I said, a cap should be implemented, everything else in the game shouldn't level with you either, there should be area's where the inhabitants can knock you, and even when you're all powerful, these inhabitants, can still put up a good fight. Now that dragons are back, they should change their AI, in fact, change all the enemies AI cause they're all dumb and predictable.
Now, I'm fully aware that it'd be incredibly hard to do all this, but I just wanna know, does anyone else agree with me? Or do you guys just think that The Elder Scrolls just isn't for me anymore?
