on my mage i only level with mana and use robes, 2 handed nord goes stamina and health every other and archer only stamina for getaways and light armor is this alright?

Seems about right. Mages use mana, Warriors are close combat and need health and stamina. And as an archer you pretty much only need stamina. I think leveling up the health for the archer could be necessary though. Since you'd be kinda screwed if you're in close combat or are attacked by a mage if you have low health.

On my archers, I solely rely on Sneak and Alchemy.

If there's a large group, give your arrow a Frenzy poison.

If there's one really tough enemy, paralyze him/her.

So I only invest in Stamina.

Mages only Magicka. I like my mages soft and squishy.

You've got certain spells that give you an armor rating(when wearing robes)

Warriors only Health...At least I do. Yes, the extra stamina comes in handy...But playing as a Redguard already gives me a useful ability.

I only need to be sure to grab some minor stamina potions.

Yes, your setup is good. Remember, it's about how you want to play. There is no wrong.

Playing as a warrior, and only invest in Magicka is also fun. Staying at 100 Health & Stamina all the way.

Why do you need stamina for an Archer? On my Archer I only level up health.

Stamina is good with the Eagle Eye perk which allows you to zoom. If you use zoom often, that is. But I don't put everything into stamina, but health as well. If you use melee on the side as an archer it's good to level up the stamina a bit.
And also with stamina I can just sprint and roll forever.

For eagle eye, though i must say the stamina doesnt help that much. I actually just add it for roleplaying purposes i think. I wouldnt want my archer to be as tanky as a warrior. Plus, since stamina has a similar color code to rogues, it helps in making my archer feel more....sneakish. If that even makes sense, hah.

"Right" is whatever feels right to you. I have never put any points into Stamina on any of my 2-Handed, Light Armor warriors. It doesn't feel "right" to me. I played a Mage awhile back with higher Stamina than Magicka.

I let my characters guide me as to what feels "right." I don't think in terms of "builds." I like to roleplay. If a particular character requires me to use what everybody else would consider a bizarre set of skills or choice of Attributes, then that is how I play that character.

depends on what you mean by "right", which is up to you to decide, if you mean by numbers or game mechanics alone robes do nothing helpful (AGAIN, I SAID GAME MECHANICS ALONE) and using armor is a better choice ,mechanics wise for a mage. for the archer and warrior, both armor types work since they both give different things. AGAIN, IF YOU ONLY LOOK AT MECHANICS.

But as said above, it is up to you to decide what is "right" for you character, would you mage wear armor? or would he prefer to use robes. same with the other 2, what would their character wear?

Only thing is, Stamina is somewhat pointless to raise, as making vegetable soup allows near-infinite power attacks and at 300 carry weight + enchantments + companion = you should never have a problem carrying stuff.

Looks about right if by archetype standards. High endurance for warrior (high health and stamina), high intelligence for mage (high magicka) and evenly distributed for archers, rogues and the like (even distribution of health, stamina and magicka unless not using any type of magic). Robes are better for mages that any armor in the game because of flesh spells that will give you higher armor than any physical armor in the game (unless cheating of course) or putting perks into armor which will result in not being a pure mage.

How will flesh spells give you a higher armour rating than all armour? As far as I'm aware, without the Necromage perk the highest flesh spells go to is 300.

Flesh spells + armor = better or just as good armor rating without having to do it every minute in the heat of battle. Also that is your opinion about pure mages, not a fact.

Dragonhide spell + mage armour I THINK goes to max AR, but is garbage since it only lasts for at most 30-60 seconds even with dual casting it.

What's mana?

My Mages will mostly invest in Magicka, with very little in Health.

My Warriors will just invest in Health.

My Assassins will do a split between Magicka and Health.

I have yet to invest in Stamina for any character. It's a broken attribute for Skyrim.

  • You can do a PA once every 3.75 seconds w/o any soup.
  • Even donned in Heavy Armor, none of them had a need to sprint more than a short distance, if at all.
  • 300 carry weight is quite generous to start with. Besides, there are potions, enchantments, Dead Thralls and followers for that.
  • I have never needed to zoom in for more than a few seconds. If I am shooting from a long enough distance as to actually "need" to zoom, then I don't need to worry about being very rapid between shots and forced to stay in zoom.

EDIT :

This is just another example of how different [people play. There are some that swear by running everywhere and invest "only" in Stamina. It's all pending the character, the difficulty comfort zone, playstyle and game mechanics.

I agree with this. However I like to invest into Stamina when playing a character who duel-wields. I also invest into Stamina for any warrior, but I agree that it's futile.

Qazfdsa has got it right
Archer -- right -- Stamina for getaways to new vantage places, and light armor.
2 Handed -- right -- Stamina and Health
Mage -- Magicka right for early on, later on when you get enchanted robes which reduce the magicka cost of casting, pick Stamina or Health. I would go with Stamina myself, it's then a basic part of your character build, not needing any alternative option to replace what it covers for the character. An under-rated asset by some.

Don't get me wrong, I can perfectly understand why people invest in it, but the glamor and attraction to actually invest for means other than novelty or roleplay just isn't there. From the start of the game at release, it seemed that every time I leveled up, the immediate need for either Magicka or Health always outweighed the need, or even desire, to chose Stamina.

I bank perk points and only pick a perk when my character needs it. I guess, I look at the Attributes much the same way and simply never needed it.

On a mage flesh spells will have higher armor rating than any armor in the game including daedric which reaches 144 with a shield.
