How does the rex charge work please. Can someone trigger it by walking over one?

Select the REX, put it on the ground or whatever, click your mouse and booom!

Walking isnt enough, you have to waste some bullets or a grenade to trigger it.

There's something very angering about a rex charge. It's like the ultimate F'k U. it's like walking through a field and stepping on that one pile of sh*t.

Anyways, probably the best move I've ever seen in this game was when someone put a REX charge on a pole, picked it up, chunked it my way, and then triggered the blast right as it flew by me. I wanted to punch that guy so bad but it was so incredible I had to compliment him (while clenching my teeth together of course).

But on the other hand, one of my best mistakes was when someone was chunking a REX at me, one of my feline bullets hit it right as it released his hands, and detonated to blast him apart. now THAT was satisfying.
