Is it going to 'feel' like Killzone 2?

Post » Mon Apr 26, 2010 8:21 pm

I couldn't help noticing from the videos a similarity between the aiming and character movement with those of Killzone 2. This concerns me because one of the reasons I simply cannot play Killzone 2 is the overly weighted feel of the character's movement. It feels very sluggish, and moving your gun from side-to-side is like swinging a long metal pole underwater. I'm not suggesting every FPS has to feel like COD on max sensitivity but I like my FPS controls to feel fluid and unimpeded by so-called heavily weighted 'realism' which IMO just gimps the gameplay.

Yea this is all about fluidity and I'm sure even the large body size on't be overly sluggish however if you really hate the slow movement you could join the legions of people going with the small body type.

They actually patched Killzone 2's controls. If you go into the options, there's something that makes them less weighty.

well i never found the controls for kz2 to be a problem and
this is exactly why im favoring BRINK over kz3 for the weighted feel if this turns out to be the case

With the sensitivity for both axis turned all the way up and high precision setting on there was absolutely NO problem with the responsiveness of the controls in KZ2. I just can't understand how some people can register a fraction of a millasecond..... I push left, my guy turns left... no problem. The only thing that was "sluggish" was the turning speed when aiming down sights.... this made it hard for people who overuse ADS to play but why do you need to ADS when your enemy is only five feet away from you?

I'm more afraid that the controls for Brink are going to be a COD clone..... with paintball guns that have no weight or recoil and strong aim assist than turning out like KZ2. Brink could benefit from emulating a more hardcoe game like KZ2 rather than a twitch shooter like COD IMO.

As you can see pretty much throughout the videos, the weapons move as if they have a lot of weight. However, in the demo the controls didn't feel too heavy, yet not as "twitchy" as in COD (which, imho, is not a twitch-shooter at heart, though).

As far as I can see it in videos of brink, there is much freedom of chosing ADS or hipfire, which is great, as I like hipfire like in kz2 . Its so annoying playing kz3 beta and being forced to ads everyone all the time, with left-right strafing( sideways strafing). Interesting would be to hear how the guns "feel" , is it any recoil, or weight, or is it plastic guns , like in COD
