I have recently installed Crysis 2 via Steam. I am occasionally getting an odd bug where some of my controls will stop responding while in the campaign - I will usually still be able to move around, but things like reloading my weapons or trying to fire them will often stop working.
Everything else appears to be operational (ex. enemies will still attack me).
If I die (or quit & reload), the controls resume working normally.
This is a significant problem, since whenever it comes up I often cannot continue the game (since there is no "save and reload" feature outside of the checkpoint system). For example, I'm currently in "Semper Fi or Die" and had just nearly finished getting through a whole bunch of aliens when this bug occurred, leading to my death. When I tried again, the bug occurred a second time after just a few aliens.
When it happens, I always recall having pressed a number of controls in a short period of time (ex. crouching, activating armour mode, and meleeing and/or firing a weapon).
I attempted to recreate this bug and succeeded twice by simultaneously pressing a bunch of different controls at once (Shift for sprint, Ctrl for crouch, space for jump, mouse 1 to fire, and r for reloading). I was unable to fire my weapon or reload after this occurred. It seems that if I try and press each major control one at a time (ie press shift, then control, etc -- but one at a time), the bug will eventually resolve itself. I don't really have time to do this if I'm under attack (which is when this bug is most likely to happen).
(Searching for this bug came up with nothing since "control" and "failure" are apparently too common for the forum's search feature.)
Has anybody else had this problem or know of a better solution? Perhaps I just need to remap 'crouch' and/or 'sprint' to say the middle mouse button?
Thanks for any help/feedback,
