Markarth vs. Orzammar

Post » Sat Jan 04, 2014 8:11 am

I've always thought that Markarth looked a lot like Orzammar from Dragon Age Origins. They seem to have similar architecture and they both have kind of a cramped, stony feel.

It's not a bad thing, because they're obviously still very different in other ways. I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed this or any other similarities between Skyrim and other things (that haven't already been mentioned a million times before coughWhiterunandEdorascough).

Just hearing "Orzammar" brought back the horrible memories I had of the deep roads...(It's one of the many reasons I cannot do one more play through of DAO..the fade too)

And they kinda look alike...kinda.

Well.. they're architecture is Dwavern, so naturally they both share similarities.

It's not really a fair comparison, but Markarth is far superior to Orzammar.

This!

I don't see it, Markarth looks carved from the mountains while Orzammar looks like your run of the mill stone settlement.

I loathe the Fade....the deep roads was actually my favorite part of the game. Orzammar felt more closed off to me than Markarth... but a lot of that is the difference in nature between the two games. Skyrim is all about being open

They have similarities that I could tell from the pictures that you have posted. even though I have never played Dragon Age before.

Fair point, but keep in mind TES dwarves are nothing at all like Dragon Age dwarves. (TES dwarves aren't even technically dwarves at all.)

I both loved and hated Orzammar and the Deep Roads. It felt so dark, dreary, and claustrophobic, but that's how it was supposed to feel. The developers captured it perfectly. I loved it. I always dreaded going to Orzammar, but at the same time it was probably my favorite section of the game. Weird, I know.
