Dealing with Shot Gun and Manoeuvrability

Post » Sat Jan 04, 2014 9:32 am

Hello,

I can get by in Crysis 3 MP but there is one type of player who I cannot deal with.

This is the player who runs around like a headless chicken doing power jumps everywhere. He will have a shot gun and run with manoeuvrability and probably rapid fire and hunter. He will slide kill into you or many times run straight into you. I find it nigh on impossible to kill him even with the most powerful weapons when he does this. If he doesn't get you the first time he will simply follow your footsteps and get you in the back!!

My question is: How do you deal with these players who generally end up going 50 - 5.

Thanks,

Ok, Making distance between me and the opponent is a non starter because, as I said, he will simply run into me and slide. I have no idea what the stats are but a sliding player with manoeuvrability is impossible to hit. This is the point of my post in the first place. You haven't really answered my questions.

Hello,

First, any good player is going to run "around like a headless chicken doing power jumps" because constant erratic movement makes it hard for your opponent to aim especially when you're in a firefight. Learn to do it yourself and do it well and your game will improve.

He will have a shot gun and run with manoeuvrability and probably rapid fire and hunter.

This is because, as cloak is nerfed in C3, having those perks, especially maneuverability is almost a necessity for a shotgun player. What I suggest you do is fight fire with fire. Use a weapon like the Feline X3 with a laser and equip yourself with the same modules as the shotgunner. In this way you're both playing on equal ground because he's using a point fire weapon, and you are as well and I have been out maneuvered during a firefight by people using the Feline, FY71 or just plain Scarab with laser when these people were using point fire and I was using the shotgun.

He will slide kill into you or many times run straight into you.

That's because he's using good tactics. Sliding confuses the opponent, temporarily increases your speed, and makes it harder for the opponent to hit you. I suggest you practice this technique with your preferred weapon ( as long as it's amenable to point fire ) as it's a good tactic for any player.

I find it nigh on impossible to kill him even with the most powerful weapons when he does this. If he doesn't get you the first time he will simply follow your footsteps and get you in the back!!

My question is: How do you deal with these players who generally end up going 50 - 5.

Thanks,

Follow dragxor's advice and use the minimap Luke! It's the most underutilized feature in the game -- and one of the most important and useful. When you can see someone, like a shotgunner, coming your direction, engage armor ( if they've gotten close enough ) and then counter-maneuver them during the firefight using power-jumps, strafing, sliding and erratic movement -- a shotgunner can easily be outmaneuvered this way. Also, If you too have the Hunter module equipped, you'll be in a better position to know when an enemy is coming and where they're coming from because you can hear their footsteps distinctly. You'll also be able to track them down if you evade them.

You might want to take a look at my shotgun videos : https://www.youtube.com/user/jdbtwo

Here's one to start with :

( I've gone 55-23 with the Marshall but unfortunately that wasn't recorded :( )

I know I'm not the best player -- far from it -- and I get killed a lot by people utilizing the tactics which I described above but it's this reason why I think they might be useful to you -- there are many more much better C3 advice / training videos out there by the likes of such greats as SDub, War_Spirit etc.

Here ya go :) :

If I used Auto Armor my KDR would be very high and I would die a lot less but unfortunately I don't use it as a matter of principle as I consider it to be exploiting a design flaw in the game. What I mean is that my armor KDR is 3.495 but my other KDRs svck so if I had AA ( armor on all the time, basically ) I'd probably have a KDR of around 2-3 instead of my svck ass current 0.862 total KDR. But anyway...

Nice gameplay. :) I don't know how you managed to instagib most people with the Marshall because in my case either due to the fact that my opponent has a high ping or AA it takes 2-3 shots for me ( sometimes even at point-blank range in the head when the opponent is cloaked ) even when my ping is 45ms or less. In any case C3 hit detection combined with the ping compensator combined with AA svcks and is one of the things that has helped kill the game.

I would say use that to your advantage :) , I also don't prefer aa and the only loadout that I use it with is shotgun, other than that I use Q to activate with other weapons :)
