Do I or Don't I

Post » Sun Jan 05, 2014 1:17 am

So at the moment im running Origin and Crysis 3 off a 120Gb SSD but its running out of space, so the questions i have:

- How do i move C3 from SSD to HDD? (i have a 1000Gb HDD which would be where C3 ideally would go)
Note: im aware that you can get origin to save games to specific destinations, so in my case i want to to save to my HDD

- Will i lose any single player progress/ saves?

- Will i lose any multiplayer progress?

- If i uninstall C3 will i be able to reinstall it using the same prduct code in the box - I have the physical DVD ROM (is the product code only a one time thing?)

- Or will origin reject the prodcut code and leave me with a useless CD and no Crysis 3 :(

Any advice would be great as im a bit 'do i or don't i' on whether to mess around

Thanks,

- Unistall from the SSD -> Install on HDD.
- When asked "Do you want to delete your saved games" go for "No", then copy\paste them to their new destination, or just copy\past before you uninstall.
- Multiplayer progress are saved on your online account, so no.
- Yes.
- No, if the cd key is already been used several times you can ask EA for a new Key, but i dont think this is your case.

Much better doing it before uninstalling, just in case :)

If you uninstall the CD key will revert to the unused state, so you can use it without any problem when you reinstall.

So, if you do it correctly, you won't lose anything.

There are some company that put a limit to a key ability to perform a installation, after maybe 10 or more installation's, i don't think this is the case but i said that just in case :P

Yes!

Maybe and i repeat maybe if you download crysis 3 directly from origin with your key they have the last patch already installed, but im not sure about this because i've not tried it yet. I think the best way is to install from cd and then to update.. Unless you have a very very fast internet connection :D

Well i have a 36Mb/s connection so i guess thats pretty fast (Fibre optic), and regarding the key i bought the game as a DVD ROM from the UK store 'game' so the key is only for activating the disk not enabling a download from origin, so i think based on what your saying origin may update crysis 3 once its installed :) ... a bad thing since 2GB of downloads (maybe less) is 1/20th of my download limit xD

I also bought the game as a DVD but it gave me the option to download the game from origin, useless because with my 6Mb/s connection and the size of this game who knows how much time it would have taken :D

Well i just took the plunge, uninstalled then re-installed on Hard-drive. Turns out Origin remembers the product code so when i put the 1st disk in, no prompts to enter a code - Genius :D Did what you guys said regarding my saved games, as luck would have it origin didn't delete them (i think) i pasted the original copy of my saves over it, just in case and still have all my single player progress... Phew :)

Once again thanks guys you were a big help with this :)

Note: So installing both disks worked fine but... yeah... well there was going to be a catch 1.6GB of patch/updates downloading later and its now all working like it did before =)
