Make it open beta, no NDA

Post » Sun Jan 05, 2014 12:39 am

I know you still have much things to do Zenimax, but having closed beta and NDA like 3 months before release wont make any good.

Start citizen is 2 years to release and you can play their game right now ( hangar module ), so you can SEE what is the game about, you can report bugs.

You could stress the servers RIGHT NOW and have 3 months to fix some issues with that.

Star citizen is also fishing for funding.....you kind of have to put everything out there so to speak when you want people to crowd fund a game you aren't even close to finishing.

its already confirmed theres going to be an open beta shortly before release, so calm down.

these betas are not a demo, its not a trial for you to see what the games like, each beta has a specific objective for testers to do and make sure certain features are working, and so should remain closed until they are ready for the big stress tests.

Allowing open discussion of Closed Beta prior to launching Open Beta would be a huge mistake.

How convenient you fail to mention that you have to PAY money to access that game. Its crown sourcing for money, not at all comparable to ESO.

Bias poll is bias.

Open beta will happen just before launch, so you'll have to wait until then. Betas are not free demos, they're for specific testing purposes.

Star Citizen is crowd sourced isn't it? People have have already pledged money to it, so it's expected that they'd have access to some of the game and info.

Since, ESO is privately funded, it's a completely different kettle of fish. None of us have put money to it yet.

But hey, why let those pesky facts get in the way of feelings of entitlement.

Oh, and biased poll is biased. Plus they've already confirmed there will be an open beta, so it's biased and stoopid.

edit: Why do i get the feeling that this thread is motivated more by 'I haven't received a beta invite and ESO will fail without my expert input' than anything else?

I support them lifting the NDA, yes, but not starting the open beta just yet. A month prior at MOST. I would reckon more like 5-7 days of open beta before launch.

Such a bias poll, not even going to vote in it. This is just a ridiculous thread in general. The game has been under NDA for 8 months now, can you not wait another 3?

fully open beta is for low budget mmos that are using leased tech. They typically have almost no money and rather limited interest by the public in what they are doing. ESO would have over a million people trying to jump in the by first two days and crash even launch ready servers let alone a game running in debug mode on limited test servers.

I done alot of beta for games, and the ones I did had open beta 2 weeks before release. I never heard 3 months before release. Open beta usually was either a reward for the beta testers or a big stress test toward the end. But I agree open beta all the way is not good. Leave it at the end of testing like the other games I tested.

Yeah, this isn't going to go well. There isn't any reason why Zenimax would have to allow a paid admission to their beta, or allow game mechanics that aren't finalized be up for discussion.
