Really Verizon? Really?

So my sweet, sweet lady of a wife bought me a new smartphone for Christmas.
I just got around to activating it. But, to my surprise, i cannot simply switch my existing verizon number over to my new device. Why? because it seems that she unknowingly bought me a prepaid device.
Its already 15 days after purchase, so i cannot return it.
Essentially, if i want to use it i have to pay for months of prepaid service at which time i can switch my number over to use it with my existing account.

Anyone have something similar happen?

Anyone know a way to get around eating the cost of the phone or 6 months of pre-paid?

i don't deal with my phone company personally, some one else pays my bill, then i pay them.

but yes, in general phone companies are horrible horrible people who deliberately set up their services to profit from people screwing up some purposefully obscure contract.

You think you'll be having the phone for a while? If so, and if you can afford it, I say just buy the service and you won't have to worry about cell-phone bills for a few months.

I'm on an unlimited* plan already, so whether I do or do not use my phone, I still gotta pay the same bill every month. If I go prepaid with this new phone, i'm basically paying two phone bills.

*more minutes/data than i can realistically use for my needs.

Maybe hock it off, don't see what you can do, really. That's disappointing to hear. I bet Mrs.CannibalClub feels horrible.

I can't even use it for a storage device at this point. I can only access the emergency call and activation screens on it until it is activated.
Otherwise, i would agree, I could just use it for media

pretty much. She kinda shifted some of the blame to me though. "remember when i was showing you all of those phones online?" haha like i was supposed to spec out her gift to me.

USB ADB. Google the phone model and see if there are alternate ROMs you can install.

Nevermind, you still need to access the device to enable USB Debugging first. :(

My Dad tried to use Verizon one time but didn't like the service, we had them for a couple of days and returned the phones in which we don't have to pay for their services but they want us to pay a couple of thousands of dollars but we have the paper work that says we where in the trial period and don't have to pay...so either will blow over or I'll get a court messenger visit. In all Verizon's not a very customer friendly company.
