When Do You Change Difficulty?

Post » Sun Jan 05, 2014 3:29 pm

I can comfortably start playing on Adept, but from there I might have to eventually switch it back down to Apprentice, or even Novice depending on the enemies I face.

Anything above Adept though... it baffles me how some of you manage to play on such levels. When I've played on them I get killed within a few hits, and it takes so long to kill them, I just don't get how you guys do it.

When I feel there's no challenge coming from enemies.

I never change difficulty. As I said in the other thread about difficulty, I always play Elder Scrolls games at default difficulty. I don't play these games to be "challenged."

Sometimes I have to change the level down to erm...sissy level as I call it.

And that's when Daeo has no chance of winning, but I'm to stubborn to quit the mission.

I'm playing on Expert right now, but I switch it up to Master for Dragons. As I've said before, I like fights with Dragons to be drawn out. I want the prospect of dying when doing battle with a Dragon.

When I get bored.

Or when I'm RPing a powerful enemy and my character MUST have a hard time with the battle.

Oh, so the lot of you DO change difficulty a lot?

I was under the impression you set a difficulty and stayed there for the whole game.

Expert is, IMO, easy for the most part after you get used to it, you just need to remember not to leeroy jenkins anything. I change it to Master after i start enchanting my OP gear to add more challenge to the game.

Well I could probably play on it, cause I got better at combat after doing the arena quests in Oblivion, and in Skyrim I tend to stay cautious.

also watch out for Bandit chiefs at early level when playing as a lightly armored characters, they can tear you to shreds if not careful.

The gameplay in Skyrim is a mix of arcade and tactics. Some people are less inclined to arcade games, and some or more.

As for tactics, in TES you have a variety of them at your disposal.

Now, when you ask about changing difficulty, I think I experienced a glitch that changed my difficulty level to another, and I didn't realized it happening - I just employed new tactics to cope with that change.

You do realize, that the amount of hours you play this game is more or less equal with some courses for driving license mandatory in some countries, so you definitely will improve in your gameplay after playing Skyrim that much; the beginning may be a little hard, but you'll get better at it - and that's a beauty of such games.
