Cannot enter conversation with custom merchant

Post » Mon Jan 06, 2014 1:18 pm

I'm at my wit's end. I cannot get custom merchant NPC's to say anything other than the generic passerby greetings. No matter what I do, the NPC never lets me enter the dialogue menu.

Note:

- I'm not making custom dialogue, so the quest dialogue bug (with SEQ) doesn't apply

- I've followed 3 different "custom merchant" tutorials for the creation kit and none work

- I made a completely new .esp for this merchant

- I use a vanilla save when I start the game

Nothing is working. What could be wrong? I can't find anything on the internet about this.

A couple of pointers that might help, first check your mechant (custom) faction and make sure the details a correct it's real easy to overlook things there, and secondly just check your merchant NPC's voice type not all of them have the dialogue lines.

[censored]. Found the issue.

I had:

faction:

- hidden from pc [CHECK]

I used to do this with oblivion factions, so that the player character couldn't have them, but I guess that's not cool with skyrim. Thanks!
