Do you try to make things, "realistic"?

Post » Wed Jan 08, 2014 2:13 am

I generally avoid this kind of thing with higher level characters or if I am actually trying to accomplish something in a timely matter. But for lower level immersion I may eat and drink 2 or 3 times a day and get 7 or 8 hours of sleep each night. In addition, I would usually avoid endless sprinting unless there is RP justification of some sort and prefer to jog along roads instead, ( I do not have enough patience to actually, 'walk')

Also, there are a myriad of other things to create realisticness, such as waiting an hour after reading books or not drinking age old potions in Nordic ruins infested with walking dead.

Just wondering what others might do to increase their immersion.

I do all of the above.

I also use the mod frostfall for more immersion (Got a gaming PC and I love it.)

On the 360, I would never swim with armor on cause of obvious reasons :P

My characters sleep, drink, eat and bathe. How often they do these things varies, depending on the character. They take their clothes or armor off when they bathe or go swimming. Most of them put on town clothes when they are in town. Those that change clothes usually get out of sight when they do it so no one will see.

They travel on foot, horseback or by hiring carriages. When they travel on foot they walk about 70% of the time and run about 30% (depending on the physical fitness of the character). After combat ends my characters walk for a time, to simulate being exhausted from the effort of fighting.

Other than that, I make it a point to take only those actions that make sense for the character I'm roleplaying.

I'm very OCD about eating. I eat 3 meals a day. I eat a main dish (must be cooked) with a side -usually an apple- and a drink. I'll eat soup and bread to substitute the previous selection, when I feel like it, and sleep at least 6 hours a day when I can.

My characters eat, sleep and pretty much walk or take the carriage or horseback ride ( even the horses don't run all the time though). They rarely travel at night and then only when they must. They all sleep a minimum of 4-6 hrs every night, when they come back home or hit an Inn if "renting" they sleet 8 to 10 hrs because they should be kinda tired.

When doing any crafting, I feel it shouldn't take 10 seconds so they "wait" til evening and then go and eat and relax. Same when reading a book, it should take some time.

I don't take any food from caves, ruins or forts unless there are "living" people in it. They make "trail" rations while in town..... so generally at least spend 2 or 3 days in town getting ready for the next adventure. Now if they have a family with children, they stay an extra day to spend time with the family.... they play games.

I keep my RP no matter the characters lvl. When I get "antsy" for the character to move on and I find myself, rushing them, I take a break and play a non- RP character.... just go and hack and slash at something.

Every time my character gets wounded in a battle, I retire the character for four months for them to heal. Then I spend another three months just doing things in town, picking leaves, etc. during their physical therapy/get-back-into-shape time before attempting anything that might result in a fight.

It depends on what mood I'm in, and whether or not I have the patience and time that day.

Within reason.

My characters have to eat, sleep, drink and protect themselves from the elements, but they don't disrobe every time they enter town or put on their night gown every night before bed. I don't arrange food on my plate; I just eat it out of the inventory. Things along those lines...
