My computer's sound card is fried to hell, so basically I have no sound, getting a new setup soon for many other reasons, but atm, Skyrim refuses to run without a sound device installed. Just wondering if there is any kind of workaround to play without a sound device. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Is the ruined card an external one, or is it the integrated audio on your motherboard?

Integrated audio, have tried repeatedly reinstalling sound card software ect ect.

Skyrim requires some sort of audio card or chipset in order to run. Depending on how long it's going to be before you get your new PC, you may want to consider trying a USB sound card. Here's a couple of cheap ones from Newegg -

It may not be the best sound quality, but these run around ten bucks each, and one of them may let you limp along for the time being.
