Some mod issues

Post » Fri Jan 10, 2014 2:09 pm

Hey guys, I've been having some issues starting up Morrowind after a while and I was hoping you guys could help me out. I haven't played Morrowind in about 5 months and I installed some new mods. They don't seem to work, nor do some older ones. After some investigation, it seems MWSE isn't running, and I'm not sure why. I run MWGE with it built in, and I know for a fact MWGE is running since my water is nicer looking than vanilla.

On top of this, I installed Herbalism for Purists and I'm getting stuff about certain .nifs not working, so some alchemy stuff (mushrooms, mostly) loads with that yellow exclamations when the mesh is missing. It turns out the .bsa for the flora glow part of HfP wasn't getting put into the .ini by BSAreg, so I did it manually and that didn't help. I then deleted Flora Glow.bsa as well as the ini edit I made for it and it's still not working. I'm not sure if this is related to MWSE seemingly not working or not. Pretty sure these are two seperate issues.

So, what am I not doing right? Any help would be apriciated. I don't generally have these issues with mods.

Put Flora Glow back in. If it doesn't work, paste your Morrowind.ini file here.

For your BSA problem try http://mw.modhistory.com/download--12389 by KINGPIX

Oh, and if you have Morrowind installed in Program Files / Program Files(x86) you could be running into Windows' folder virtualisation where the changes you make to morrowind.ini aren't actually made to the copy you want  Don't install older games like Morrowind into Program Files.

And there's no need to post your whole INI. Scroll down to the bottom and post the "[Game Files]" and "[Archives]" sections. The contents of your warnings.txt file are also useful (same place as morrowind.exe)

Alright, thanks for helping out, guys. I guess I should have mentioned that I'm running the Steam GOTY version on Windows 7, so it is in the x86 program files.

Here's my warnings.

OK. So Steam and using Nexus Mod Manager. Yikes. I've really no experience with NMM but it causes a lot of grief over on the Oblivion side, from what I've read, so I really don't know how it copes with Morrowind...

I'd suggest moving your Morrowind location out of Program Files, options:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129
http://stefanjones.ca/steam/
http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover/

Whilst I have Steam I've never done this myself. Maybe someone with more experience on the Steam side will pipe up?

It looks like your BSA is properly registered ("Archive 2=Flora Glow.bsa") but for some reason isn't being picked up by Morrowind (errors like "Model Load Error: Meshes\fg\flora_bc_podplant_03.nif cannot load file in Meshes\fg\flora_bc_podplant_03.nif" all those with "fg" in the path relate to Flora Glow). That makes me think you're being affected by http://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/folder-virtualization-concepts-windows-vista as the BSA registration's not being picked up. Hence the suggestion to move out of Program Files.

[Edit: Oh, and the INI shows files in alphabetical order not load order]

[Edit2: Hmmm, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/781497-vistawindows-7-problems/#entry11352753 maybe a safer option]

Alright, thanks! I know NMM was working fine at least up until now, to my knowledge. I don't download much fromt he Nexus itself, though. I manually put everything in the data folder if I can.

Steam is kind of a problem, I wasn't sure if I could move any of it and keep it all working, but what you've sent shows that I can. Thanks! I'll try moving stuff and see how it turns out.
