placeatme baseid mismatch

Post » Sat Jan 11, 2014 11:19 am

I'm not sure if this a problem or not and couldn't find anything online, so figured I'd ask. If I open the console and search for a baseid (for example "help wolf") and then take the baseid for say an ice wolf and pass it to placeatme I may get the expected creature, but may instead get something entirely different (such as a Falkreath Guard, bear, or troll) it seems once it's wrong once it will always give me the wrong creature.

Is this an indicator of a mod problem/conflict, or just a thing that happens in Skyrim?

Wolf: 00023ABE

Ice Wolf: 00023ABF

Try with these IDs.

So far that has worked fine (will try running it more in a bit). Never thought about it before, but pretty sure when there is a mismatch it's not on the creation kit/UESP id, but rather another ID with the same name provided by the help command.

I can confirm that while 0x23ABE and 0x23ABF continue to work while the nonstandard values give incorrect results. After an improper spawn is made the health bar/talk prompt show the spawned create name, not the name given by help.

I typed "help wolf" in the console a lot of different ids came out but all of them called "wolf". probably they're all some sort of fake "wolf"s but rather something else. Anyway those two I provided are the correct ones. There aren't any other wolf or ice wolf IDs that would actually spawn a wolf or an ice wolf

Well sometimes some of those fake id's do actually spawn wolves (or ice wolf if chosen), but it could be fake id's that just happen to map to the right creature by coincidence. But if it's not just me I'll go ahead and assume it's not something broken on my end. Thanks for the help.
