Random crashes since uninstalling Warzones.

Post » Sat Jan 11, 2014 11:32 pm

Since I uninstalled Warzones due its terrible performance I have been getting random crashes to desktop with no error. I did forget to disable it via the mod configuration menu before uninstallation :l.

Is the scripts building up and crashing the game or something? It seems to be fairly regular at about every half hour.

Thanks in advance

Well, a mod the size of Warzones affects too much stuff to allow for a clean uninstall and i thing you'll need to start a new character after uninstalling it.

Your save is likely hosed.

It means the save is likely dead. Scripts are baked into saves in Skyrim and sometimes removing the mod can make a save unusable.

Elements of War Zones are now stuck in your saves. You'll have to go back to a save without War Zones or start a new game. Most people believe there's no such thing as a clean uninstall, but your game crashing could be due to many other things. The smart guys will need more info about your rig and any other mods you're running.

Well just as some extra info this problem started about 3 hours (roughly) of game time after uninstallation but I think it could still be related.

Rig is: FX 8350

GTX 770 2gb

SSD, 8gb RAM

PS: At the same I've started getting attacked by cultists all the time! That's not supposed to happen. Oh and I've also installed Immersive Creatures recently. Maybe I'll try uninstalling that.

Uninstalling mods isn't a good idea with Skyrim, sad but true.

If you are going to install a mod like that, the best thing to do is read the mod description/readmefiles/userposts before you install the mod. Read them thoroughly. Even the user posts to get an idea of what other ppl are experiencing with it.

The author mentions multiple times the stress the mod can have on your system. He even alludes to the fact you can't really safely uninstall it mid game.

If after the above you are going to try the mod, you want to make a new manual save and THEN install it. Don't overwrite the manual save however.
You could also start a new game as well. You can always go back to the premodded save. Always a good idea to backup the saves folder in case something happens.
