Has ZOS shown enough of the game...

Post » Sun Jan 12, 2014 12:13 pm

Ever since my departure from my most recent mmo and trying to get as much info as i can on this one. I was wondering if the people who have been following this the longest feel that ZOS has shown enough in game footage of various aspects to give you confidence concerning the game? maybe I am just having a hard time finding a decent amount of footage that isn't merely material for hype that displays the game and its mechanics. With about 2 and a half months left till the release on PC and 4 months for console it seems like they should be showing as much as they can concering the various aspects of the game to both increase advertisemant and allay the fears of those who are supporting this game. I realize that NDA is in affect for those who are in beta but i am referring to the people who are developing this game. I think the veil of secrecy should be incresingly pulled back as the date for release gets closer.

Things I would like to see,

1. Controller gameplay and how the gamepad will handle various aspects. Targeting, skills, skill swapping, macros, etc...

2. Crafting/Economy. How does the ability to steal certain items from vendors/npcs effect the economy. What will some of the consequences be for doing so? I mean skyrim and other elder scrolls games have a punishment in place for those that steal and are caught, how would that work in an mmo?

3. Dungeons/Instances or whatever they call them with some group mechanics. Maybe show a minute or so showing a pull of a group of mobs and how a group of players intertact. Seeing the tank hold the main one, and some dps/OTs handling the little guys while the healer does his thing. Not asking for long drawn out tutorials of said dungeon just something showing a working group mechanic.

4. zones/zoning etc. how is travel handled? how large are some of the zones?

5. some skills and demonstration of those skills or just a video again of each character or class showing of their ultimate or something. Has there been a demonstration of skills and not simply a mention?

etc. just want something so that I feel more knowledgable concerning the game. I realize it is in beta but you would think the company would have raised some of the NDA or given more info itself. so that people who are waiting for the game are not completely in the dark.

Articles are not really helpful imo for expressing an mmo. those who are into mmos want to see things in actions and see various aspects. again not asking for them to drop everything on us and shows us the whole bag, but at least show there is a bit more in the bag to be honest.

I am not looking for a wow killer, I am looking for an mmo that grabs me and my attention. Something that has some depth and exploration to it. Something that has a world worth exploring, and isn't teleport from one node to another bypassing it completely. yes everyone has lives and can't play as long as travel should be a huge portion, but it does need to be a portion of the gameplay. To say "well i don't have time" isn't a good reason to wreck a game so that you can teleport from one place to another gettign goodies faster and faster while your kid sits in his play pen. either be willing to put in a little time and effort or tend to your real life obligations. That is what I am hoping for, granted it maybe asking a lot, not really imo, but that is all i care about. Something immersive.

After having watched the quakecon video I liked the gameplay but honestly was there a tank anywhere in the group or a healer? I heard the guy shooting the arrows was the templar but I didn't even see him heal once, unless I missed it, looks more like a arpg. Makes me think of Diablo, you never needed a healer, you just kept yourself up and hacked and slashed your way through stuff, and with the soulstones you just rez on the spot or back at the beginning. I am happy they are doing away with the trinity but still keeping it in mind, but the gameplay didn't show anything of the trinity. I would have liked to see him switch to healing the group then back to doing some damage with his bow. Another thing that bothered me was the controller sitting right next to the guy and he didn't showcase anything with the gamepad. Makes me worry if they have the consoles in mind at all when they are creating this game if they don't, they just wasted cost of developing the game and should have just stuck with pc.
