Why do blacksmiths sell everything?

I find it odd that blacksmiths have everything available to sell to the player (of course depending on your level)

If i go to alvor, if he sells ebony armor/glas armor of eminent destruction or the like, it just feels odd. I'd like it if certain smiths sold certain items. It would give me more reason to travel more.

But i dont want their inventory to seem really barren at the same time, i just want smiths to have certain levels of expertise. Up until now i just assume there's some other really bad dude out there trading these items into his shop.

-Also, i wish when we forge our own weapons and armor, we get the option to name them just like enchanting. (alchemy should get this too)

It tends to happen in most RPGs that a vendor's inventory will level with the player.

I agree, a little diversity in shops while travelling might be a nice touch. It makes sense that different smiths would specialize in different styles of armour and weapons. Oengul leaning more towards Steel/Nordic, Beirand maybe having more Imperial or say Eleven equipment. Also, just curious as I don't know, does the smith in Markarth stock more silver than other shops or not?

And it's always nice to pretend you're not the only Jules Winnfield out there.
