Skill restriction.

Greetings gents, Im just writing my concern about the restriction of the skills in the game and how we have seen similar loopholes in another game.

Welp, basically, you can only use 6 skills at any given time in ESO (counting weapon swap it adds up to 12).. So here's my concern about this, I understand that having fewer skills reduces the amount of complexity and could appeal to newer players or perhaps those who do not wish to spend time trying out new builds and what not but here's the thing, part of the fun in an mmo is customization, trying new ideas, new builds, seeing how it fares against other players, it seems like more and more, mmos restrict us in that manner.. I thought with ESO it would be different since they kept on saying how we would not be restricted. I dont think this statement to be accurate, for example, if you join the Mage's guild (which I am a fan of because of the amount of diversity in the spells) you only get one skillset of six spells. I mean, WHAT? That's it? Only six spells? Dissapointing, really. I know it is too far at this point to change anything but I feel the same errors are being repeated after the failure of GUILD WARS 2, (seriously I feel like the skill system is copy/pasted on GW2). Then again, having such limitation would very much fit with the fact that you are releasing console ports, six skills fit for a controller but 20, not so much. Anyway, Im done rambling, sorry guys! I just feel like it should be revisited for the sake of this game.

you can actually play 12 skills at a time - counting weapon swap, that can be same type weapon.

But also you will have much more skills to choose from - you just need to prepare the set you will use for fight.

You are not restricted because you can play healer, tank or mage or any combination you find usefull - it is only locked for the fight duration.

At least I understand it this way.

having a limited amount of skills is FAR more strategic and complex then having all your skills at all times.

But it doesn't make a lot of sense, after all, we have command of all skills we have learned in the real world. It is just the latest game design fad following the Guild Wars games and Neverwinter, and it came down to them from card games like MtG.

Not really, are you really going to be needing to know how to drive while out camping in the woods, are you going to always need to know how to build computers at all times. IMO, I know how to make computers, but that skill rarely comes in handy and i usually do not really think about it.

It is not a question of need, it is a question of can I do it if suddenly called upon to do so. I guess the whole issue depends on how easy it is to shift skills in and out of the hot bar.
