Somewhere or other I read that I can't get locked achievements if I use the console (which I suppose is understandable), but this raises questions in my mind.
First and foremost, what value is there in locked achievements, and why should I care about them at all?
I presume that locked achievements record major things done, like stealing Ceasar's favorite coffee mug, or putting novocaine in his condem, but here's the thing. I play for enjoyment, and I often use the console in pursuit of that enjoyment. Particularly the use of tm and/or tfc for screen shots (along with sucsm) and occasionally tcl to get out when trapped in rock meshes and things like that. Then there are mods like the XRE vertibird that are great, but if the elevator at Nellis (the place of origin for the vertibird) is broken, the only way to get to it is to use tcl.
So, am I missing anything important with the locked achievements or are they just useless window dressing?
