Greetings,
after playing the Elder Scrolls Online Beta most of the past weekend I wrote a summary of what a close friend (he got a beta key, too) and I experienced during this test.
As we both played a lot of Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games we thought it would be helpful to put this summary together to improve the world of Tamriel.
Much to our regret the beta forums closed simultaneously at 12pm EST (which equals 6am at our local time here in Europe).
At 9pm EST we decided to put our summary together and finally posted it at 10pm EST before going to bed.
Sadly it was a rude awekening today as we saw the beta forums being gone respectively being closed down for our accounts (retrieving an error when trying to log in).
Our 1800 word summary and a few comments we were not able to read due to sleeping were gone.
In my opinion closing the beta forums after the beta test is a huge mistake!
Most players would FIRST play the beta to the utmost, then they would eventually give feedback after the beta ended if the forums were still online.
We both felt privileged to play the beta and wanted to give as much feedback as possible. We did complete the survey multiple times but we also wanted to write something in the forums.
Closing the beta forums minimizes the ability to discuss the game which would have definately lead to improvements.
Players who participated in the beta wrote if I recall correctly over 8000 threads during this weekend. By having an accessible beta forum this threads would not die but nourish the game.
Please reconsider if the forums need to be closed simultaneously with the beta servers or if it would help the game and the community to let them openend at least a week after the beta ended.
I want to remark that the time chosen for the servers to come online was really uncomfortable for us europeans, too. Players with a regulated daily routine even during the weekends could not play the game until saturday because of the servers going live only just at 12pm local time.
Kind Regards,
lex
