you are paying for the servers and future content, not paying for the game every month. you have missed out on some amazing games since you did not want to pay a sub fee

hmm, that's an interesting way of thinking about it. If 70 percent of the population stops paying within 6 months, we'll see who accepts what.

Agreed though, pay threads do nothing right now. Wait until the game has been out for a couple of months and see what people are saying then. If the game is the second coming of that game which shall not be named, a sub might just be worth it.

No... we will not be paying for future content... We will be paying for ACCESS to the SERVICE...

Just as it has been in every other MMO I have played, the terms of use for THIS game will include a NONE clause that will boil down to the following

The developers are Not Obligated to provide anything other than access to the service, and the consumers are Not Entitled to anything beyond said access. This is the butt-cover clause that will cover ZOS's butt if they start missing the mark for their 4-6 week content release schedule...

you can call it what you want but we are paying for future content. you use the word service, thats fine, the service its solid server stability and frequent content updates

Hey... I'm not bashing anything... I just don't want anyone expecting something that isn't true.

An MMO developer does not need to add a single byte of new content to an MMO. If they wanted to, it could remain exactly as it is at launch, and they can go, "there it is boy's and girls... have at it" and then just rake in the subscription money... Granted, it would not be in that developer's best interests to do that. But nothing forces them to do it...

I will say that we pay for content, when the game ultimately goes Free to Play after the novelty wears off and the reality of how few box sales ultimately convert to subscriptions sets in. It won't be the game's fault, or the developers' fault, really... We've had a solid three years of industry change where the industry is generally moving towards alternatives to subscriptions for revenue... Trouble is they charge for the wrong thing...

Instead of pay-to-win or fluff items on the cash shop, it should be quest packs they sell with a schedule to release at least 12 a year and charge roughly $15 for them... The only reason they don't is because most developers sink themselves into the red on production costs with a mindset that the subs would make it all back and then some... Then when it doesn't happen, they fire a lot of people and this cannot produce content quickly enough. So it's easier to create some fluff items, or pay-to-win items and throw them up on the cash shop...

But then things may be different with this game... we shall see...

People stop playing then they are bored of the game or find other things to do. How is this strange.

Even when I was a low-income earner I could spare 15.00 (or less, with multi-month plans).

I'm sorry, but this debate is useless.

That doesn't mean the price justified. I also would like to see the fee a BIT lower but as long as the game is a good piece of quality i don't care. I just don't think they can provide the quality. Even Blizzard can't yet, and I think they have much experience with MMO's.
