Two handed "legendary" weps

Post » Tue Jan 14, 2014 6:36 pm

I love two handed weapons. Mainly because if I used a 1 hander, it only makes sense to use a shield, but I hate how you cannot place your shield on your back when you aren't using it. It's either in your hand or not on your person, which is bothersome to me. Here's hoping they fix that in the future. Basically, I'm just disappointed in the legendary (if that's what they are called) two handed weapons in Skyrim. I am glad they fixed the Ebony Blade with one of the latest patches, however, I typically play a good character, and I can't justify killing followers for the sake of powering up my weapon. Wuuthrad would be my go to weapon of choice, however, you can't upgrade the thing with smithing, which pretty much makes it a non-option. You have the Rueful Axe as an option, but that one isn't really worthwhile imo. At least DB added the Skaal blade, but the design of it doesn't really do it for me.

This is only worth bringing up because of the wealth of one handed weapons that you get throughout your time playing, a lot of which fit many different characters/backstories. I only really started using two handers in Skyrim, but I remember from Morrowind a lot of cool two handed swords and weapons. I don't know what was in Oblivion, but at least they had Umbra. Why did they ever destroy that weapon?

Basically, I wish Skyrim would've included more robust unique weapon offerings. I wish they would have made smithing a universally applicable skill. Sorry for complaining, I am just in that point through my playthrough where I realize there isn't a weapon that I'm really going to look forward to having. I can't use one handed weapons, I just can't.

I really like the rueful axe, it's one of my favourite looking weapons and the slower swing forces me to be a bit more careful.

Edit: Not being able to get Hrothmunds Axe in DB annoyed me quite a bit.

Have you tried Volendrung warhammer? It was my favorite until I installed weapon mods. Now my favorite is Knight's Greatsword from Jaysus Swords mod.

Volendrung. Definitely a good vanillia and unique weapon. It just rolls of the tongue in a powerful manner.

I've pretty much never bothered with unique weapons. I do have some but they always end up collecting dust. My favorite two-hander is a legendary self-enchanted Dragonbone battleaxe.

Volendrung is AWESOME, so i 3rd this vote as most awesome vanilla 2-hander artifact. Still nothing beats a Daedric Warhammer to the face.

That is my favorite warhammer (the Daedric). As much as I love beating people sensless with the Giant Club-lookalike, the Dragonbone Warhammer, I can't quite appreciate it as much as my Daedric Warhammer.

My weapon of choice in regards to Two-Handed Weapons is the Nordic Battleaxe, though I also am fond of the Nordic and Glass Greatswords.

Longhammer is better than Volendrung IMHO because the Longhammer is 10% faster plus it can be used with elemental fury to make it 76% faster. In addition, the enchantment on Volendrung is used up too quickly and you can't improve it without 60 smithing and a perk.

That is what mods are for :disco:

Plus, Longhammer looks stupid, IMO.

I love two-handed weapons; thanks to the Fortify Restoration glitch, my Iron Warhammer is smashing Falmer Warmongers and Dwarven Centurions like it ought.

I love battleaxes so I can relate...Wuuthrad is sweet and sadly can't be upgraded yet it can be enchanted and the Rueful axe is a sick joke as it's 1 of the best looking unique weapons but is ruined by the mind-numbingly slow swing speed. There's 2 more unique Two handed weapons not yet listed:

Spoiler
the Headsman Axe and the Champions Cudgel which is a warhammer whose head looks like a meat tenderizer. It can be upgraded and has a leveled Chaos enchantment on it.

Stupider than Volendrung? OK, if that's what you think. There's something for everyone here.

Ahhh Volendrung, forgot about that, stupid me. Especially since I have used it quite a bit and enjoy its model, I'm surprised it slipped my mind... guess it's been longer since my last play through than I thought lol. I don't have anything against warhammers, but they aren't my top choice in the weapon department, so maybe that is why I forgot about it.

Agreed on the longhammer. If it had been ANYTHING other than the orcish model, it would have been all right imo. Everything else about the orcish set was ok by me except those hammers. Not a fan of the one sided design, unless it's done right. Also, I wish someone would just figure out how to allow mods to be transferred to the 360. I'd make micropayments for QoL stuff and some new weapons any day of the week. Just tell M$ to get out of the way with their "approval" process.
