I would like to play a high elf, one of my friends wants to play an orc and another a nord.


I would love to see the game have a free selection of races, then you choose the faction that you would like to represent.

I realise this probably isn't feasible due to storylines and such being written with certain races in mind for being hated etc etc but it would, in my opinion make the game more open to choice, if it is already balanced per faction then opening it up shouldn't effect the balance of the game.

What do people think?

It's not feasible right now, maybe later on you could group with other faction members for level 50 content, given guilds are cross faction.

It is always a little disappointing when factions in a fantasy game are along racial lines (not exactly promoting diversity). However, I suppose it's not really an easy thing to implement. Perhaps as well as racial skills, there should be faction skills as well to promote it whilst not limiting your choice of race.

One thing I am very positive about, though, is the three factions model. I don't know for how many years MMOs keep going for the two faction model and then seeing massive pvp imbalance on servers.

Indeed, the 3 factions adds a lot more excitement especially within PvP.
