I love Susie she is a German Shepard / Sharpei Mix. She's a good watch dog and she's mellow and sweet with my kids. She sleeps on the bed with us. She's good when she's home alone and doesn't tear stuff up . She sure does sleep alot . I kind of want to get another dog. I like big working class dogs but I'm thinking of a little guy . Pugs make me laugh but there so co-dependant at least from what I've seen. Most likely if I do get another dog, it will be a rescue. I used to have a Akita and not a day goes by that I don't think of that dog. He was a rescue.

We have a couple of cats too. One is pretty old , Chancey lives in my sons room. It stopped useing the litter box and it will only go on puppy training pads, I find diapers at the thrift store and spread those out for her and we found these weird rocks that absorb orders. It reeks in there sometimes . I hate it . My son loves the cat . I keep wondering how long this old cat's going to live. She is 14 or so.

My other cat is kind of cool. Spooks is all black . He adopted us . He just showed up in the back yard one day . A cute little kitty. They started feeding him. Now he comes and goes as he pleases as long as we will open the door. We try to keep him in at night but he rushes the door when you got to let the dog out. He has a litterbox but never uses it . My neighbor says that he goes in his yard. There's a bunch of cats around here . I don't know why he thinks it's my cat. The cats got an attitude he'll scratch you for no reason. My new Khajiit is suposed to look like him but I couldn't black him out enough.

I agreed to help my son get a Beared Dragon. It's been on incintive. 1st quarter we got the tank, 2nd quarter he got the water bowls,heater and light. He's doing good in school and he has Christmas money and wants to get the Beardy soon . Like yesterday . I won't make him wait much longer. They're pretty cool to look at,we have been visiting one at the pet store. They seem to have personality and they interact with you. I wasn't expecting that. I have even heard claims that they are affectionate.

If you have a chance to, introduce your current dog to the new one in a nuetral place, like a park or something. That way when they come home, it's almost like the current dog invited the new one there, rather than the new one barging in. Also, it can help to take your current dog to the shelter to see how it gets along with the new one. Things to look out for are one dog being dominate over the other one, like claiming the bed or a space. That can indicate issues and fights down the road.

As for the size difference, I have had a collie and a toy fox terrier together, and everything is fine. It's more important to find a dog that meshes personality wise with your current dog than to match size.

I have two cats and two dogs. I made a thread about advice for what to do with the first dog, we were given his sister a fee weeks later. Things are okay with my two puppies. My two cats don't like them. At all.

A Male and Female will get along better than two males or two females.

A park is good. I've done really well just taking my dogs out on lead in the front yard for introductions. The park has a lot more built in excitement from the road trip.

Male and female get along best. Two males generally get along well. There's a reason that sled teams have males and only one female, and it isn't because males are universally better pullers. Managing more than one female dog and preventing fights can be impossible.

Thats senseable advice. One of them will have to be the alpha dog. It's hard to say how she'd feel about another Dog, she doesn't socialize well. She is very protective of us and when she meets another dog on our walks. I've tried to reassure her and make these meetings a positive experience but it's been hard to break her of it. She still freaking pulls me down the street if I'm inconsistant with her training.

She doesn't mind the cat , her and Spooks cuddle together sometimes.

If you handle them right, neither one of the dogs is the Alpha, the humans are. Then there are no fights or issues.

I have two dogs. One a Boxer the other American Bulldog (Pitbull? I can't find the specific name for the breed. Unless they're completely different breeds).

Both of them are quite active and when they play, they can get pretty rowdy and make a mess. Buddy, my boxer, I consider to be the perfect dog for me. If I start playing around, he'll join in. If I am relaxing myself, he'll lay next to me and relax as well. However, he can be annoying at times. He can bark at times and it's just extremely loud. Sometimes when I take him out to do his business I may lose hold of him (however this is rare) and he'll run around outside and piss on everything. Speaking of which, my other dog being female (as well as being rather young still) can he be pretty territorial. If she has an accident, he will piss intentionally because of it. I don't mind cleaning it up but my girlfriend doesn't like it one bit. Besides his pissing problems, he feels like another person to me.

My other dog (her name is Beanie) is the rowdy one that chews on everything and is always running around. It's hilarious because she is also really fat. She is pretty good to, but like I said, she chews on everything. Our shoes, blankets, towels, socks, sometimes make a poor attempt at chewing the chair, my mouse, my Xbox 360 controller, a jump drive, etc. Either way, both dogs get along fine.

I also have a cockatiel who is the most badass bird ever. Strangely enough, I think I like birds more than anything. I wish I had a pet raven. Name him Edgar Allen Poe or something.

I wouldn't mind a puppy , my carpet doesn't like the idea of it. Susie was a puppy when they brought her home unannouced.

The problem with adopting a older dog is that you don't know their history. I think my Akita was abused , he had a lot of scars on his muzzle. He didn't know how to play or walk on a leash, he was an escape artist, I had to flip him a few times that dog was tough to train.

Exactly, you have to assert your status as alpha if you're not already an alpha type....I am and even nasty dogs that are only nice to their owner are cool with me to the owners amazement. They can smell it on you.

My pups do get along well (male and female as you said). My two cats are also male and female (also brother and sister). The female spends more time with me and ignores everybody else and hides when strangers are present. The male cat goes along with everybody and will occasionally observe the pups closely.

I did. I lost the pee pads and they know where to pee when its time. The sister is the same age as his brother but we got her much later and so really wasn't trained as much as we did our male. But she's fine now. They both grt along great.

I have four dogs: A Black Pug, Jack Russel, Rottweiler/Blue Healer mix and a Chihuahua (whose on it's last leg, she's an old dog).
