Has there been any info on how names will be handled? Will it be name@account or will we be locked in a death struggle with every single person who plays ESO over a choice of names?

This is a good question, why didn't i thought about that?^^
Death lock with people fighting over names.
You have your account name, then the names of your characters. Supposedly, you will have up to four characters to an account. I'd be surprised if ZOS didn't up the count of characters to 6 or 10.
But the names can be very versatile and can include up to five dashes. For instance, if I were to make an Orc, I could name him Ruba-dub-in-the-tub.
Expect silly names like those
Pretty much a multi word name will have the best shot. This is for Nords, but they cover all the races over there

It can help you get a list of names to try in case your first choice is taken.
One should not worry too mush about getting a specific name for his or her character. It's true that names describes the person who is holding the name. But also the holder of a name also defines it by his or her actions. So if I can't get Sunrock for an example it would not mean much as I could just invent a new name that would fit me. Or I could spell it Sun'rock for an example. But I think I rather change my name totally as Sun'rock does not appeal to me. But what ever name I would take I it would be as known as any name I take because I make it so.
But you could also use Sun-rock or Sun Rock, or even Sun_Rock
