Dual wield unfavoriting bug

Post » Wed Jan 15, 2014 9:50 pm

I just made an account here, and as with any forum I'm sure I'm going to get my fair share of "use the search function!".... Let me just say - as someone who's been playing Skyrim for hundreds of hours - if I could find a fix for this obnoxious piece of [censored] bug - I'd be using it! I've googled, I've nexusmods searched, and I've searched this forum. I'm more than happy to say I svck at searching, whatever, JUST HELP ME! AHHHH!

So, when you're a dual wield character, if you use 2 of the same weapon - they automatically get removed from your favorites list every time you try to equip both. The only way to equip them both is to go to inventory and equip them from there.

Please, for the love of god, someone tell me there's a fix for this?

(And I do mean fix, not a workaround. I don't want to use 2 different weapons darnit!)

Edit: I do tend to favor unenchanted weapons. I'm pretty sure you can enchant 2 of the same weapon differently/name them differently and workaround it, but I prefer not to enchant my weapons (and even when I do enchant them, it won't be for a while as I'm on a new game). And again, fix, not workaround - I want to use 2 of the exact same weapon.

Not a clue. I've never had that problem and I'm a big fan of using two blades. But rest assured, if there is a fix and someone here knows it, you won't catch a bunch of grief. There are good and knowledgable people here.

This only happens if you have upgraded both weapons. There is no fix for it so if you want both to remain in favourites, enchant your weapons and rename them. If you don't want powerful enchantments just make the enchantments have as little uses as possible by using a petty soul gem.

WHAT!? You can't be serious... I've probably made 10+ dual wield characters, 3-4 of which were on the Xbox and they've ALL had the same problem!

I should probably note though, it only happens with improved weapons... do you not improve your weapons?

I mean maybe I'm losing my mind, but AFAIK it's simply NOT possible to favorite 2 of the same weapon and equip them VIA hotkeys. (Granted they must be improved)

First off, thanks for the welcome!

And secondly, WHAT!? (again)

We're like... 4 years into Skyrim and no one has created a patch or a fix or an addon or... WHAT!?

And it's less about the power of the enchantments, and more that I just really like the Shout that increases your attack speed like crazy.

After the release of Skyrim they continued to work on it for about a year and a half. They didn't fix it because there was more important bugs to fix.

Many of which they didn't bother with either.

You have to temper them differently, if they have the same damage they register as the same item in the favorites. If you improve one to do 60 and the other 62 for example, you can favorite them and that works. I typically improve one, then drink a small potion for the other.

Ah, my mistake for the misunderstanding. My weapons have different enchantments.

Hotkey 1 of them. I have 2 of the same weapon at the same upgrade level and I hotkey 1 of them to my right hand (right on d-pad for xbox) and they both remain in my favorites when switching to other weapons. Before upgrading they both occupied a single space in my favorites and I could equip them both by pressing the same hotkey button twice as you can with spells.
