From everything I've heard, no, you can't.
I would say this too. Because it's a separate mega server per platform, they'd have to transfer the character over. And companys only really do that enmasse when two servers are consolidated into one.
I have seen some MMOs that do server transfer for an extra fee, but don't think I've ever seen it happenb between platforms.
Even though it may look and even feel like the same game on the different platforms, I don't think they really are from a coding point of view (though many of the game files I'm sure will be the same). Even if it were possible to transfer, you certainly wouldn't be able to do so anytime soon after launch as people such as yourself would have massive headstart over the pure console users.
I think that may come under different platforms, so separate purchase needed.
BUT, if it's also avalaible on Steam, then Steam 'may' have the PC and Mac versions as a single purchase.
PC and Mac share the same server, so it's the same platform so to speak, I would guess you'll be able to download for both.
The only way I can see for you to move a character between platforms is through a paid service. They can create a new character with your current stats and skills. I doubt that items would be transferable though. There would also be a good chance that your character name is already taken and you will need to select a new name.
You would also need an account for the platform your wanting to transfer to, so that means purchase of the game again.
