Would you prefer to play a knight or a "dragon" knig

Post » Wed Jan 15, 2014 11:24 pm

I'm a bit put off by the attention grabby-ness of the "dragon knight" class.

Seems like they're really clinging to the success of Skyrim, why couldn't they just have made a simple knight?

Maybe it's just me, what do you think?

Maybe? I don't mind, I think it's cool :/ As long as they don't have a tonne of dragons just flying around I don't see the problem

Well, I guess I just would have liked a less "magical" alternative.

It's not a knight, though. All skills are magic.

The most fitting term might be Akaviri Battlemage, but Dragon Knight is catchier I guess ...

Neither.

If I had to pick though, it would be Dragonknight, since that's what they've gone with.

IT is not like it is going to change, and yeah, Dragonknights are trained in the arts of the Akaviri Battlemages, Which IMO, is actually a pretty cool concept.

This. Yes, it is likely they intentionally styled the class that way to monopolize on Skyrim's success (though I do wonder about that; ESO was in development for years before Skyrim hit the shelves), however they do at least have a valid lore backing for it.

Either way though, it doesn't seem to have fulfilled that objective. Every survey and poll I see has DK very low on the rankings.

-Edit-

I just think Dragonknight sounds weird, like its more of a title then a class, maybe its just me.

I want to make a knight with cool melee skills is all.

With Weapon Skills EVERY class is the class with the badass melee skills ;)

Personally I'd have prefered a simple knight, I've never had any interest in the Akaviri and their stuff. Now if they had a skill line based on Thu'um like in Skyrim... that would be something I'd pick (since it's deeply rooted in the Nord culture :) ).

Overall I'd say that judging by the information we actually have, the classes feel too magical anyway. I much prefer straight non-magic classes, but we'll see how it will play out in the end.

Sure, but this is a hypothetical question.

Assuming we lived in an alternate reality where you had a choice between a knight or a dragon knight, what would you go for?

I voted for Dragonknight, for various reasons, whilst assuming the knight has no access to magicka abilities?

Well I dilike this wing-jump and magic standart stuff. Actually an ordinary knight would be cool. Though I guess the templar is pretty close to it.

It would be cool to have a class that used Stamina as a resource for abilities as opposed to Magicka
