Obviously you have to make it to level 10 to be able to PvP currently. I'm just curious as to what people expect/hope to see from their time spent in Cyrodiil pre-level 50.

If you could point me to where that was stated I would be so happy.
IMO, they have made the weapons/armor/classes so open and versatile, it would be a shame if you couldn't level through PVP/grinding/questing, pretty much however you feel like doing it. Would really make the game fun for everyone.

Will there be specific activities that provide more XP than others?
Initially, questing and exploration will be your most certain methods of gaining experience. Participating in PvP and exploring dungeons will grant XP as well, but because the amount of monsters and players will vary, these activities may be slower or faster depending on the circumstances. Our hope is that you’ll try a variety of activities and enjoy the journey as you explore Tamriel.
Thanks for the info. That is a very broad statement though, heh. Like Peyton's explanation of what Omaha means. ;P
Fact is if you're only doing PvP you're limiting yourself to a very small proportion of the game, if that's what you want to do then fine, but I would recommend exploring everything the game has to offer.
Some people only care about PvP. Some people only care about PvE. I was just wondering if both would be on an even playing field XP wise.
PvP obviously isn't a side game.
Its a key part of this game. We aren't talking about battlegrounds or arenas. We're talking about the first persistent open world warfare in a AAA MMO since DAoC.
I think so yes, but I think it should be slower than PvE.
It is and it should be a viable leveling path.
Just out of curiosity, why do you think it should be slower than PvE? It is certainly more challenging.
Probably depend, if you are in an huge group in a huge battle you probably rank in XP fast. An small patrol hunting for infiltrators will not be an good way to grind XP.
This is probably on purpose, they want huge battles and groups, they also want PvE players to join in.
WAR did a great job of "valuing" players in PvP. Their level was a factor/ how long it had been since they died was a factor/ how many people it took to kill them was a factor(more people splitting the xp)/ etc. DAoC did it really well too. Solo'ing people was actually a great way to get XP/RR.
PvP in MMORPGs are only fun at the end game for me.
If you think about it, pvp should award much more xp than pve, given the simple fact that you'll lose probably 50% of the time, and even going out, attempting to fight and losing are time consuming and never easy, but you're also fighting to further your campaign. The only kind of pve that's difficult for the most part in any mmo is raiding/dungeons due to coordination. This is just my opinion of course
Losing is very different in this games PvP, it's not battlegrounds or arenas which last 20 minutes, it's a full blown campaign lasting 3 months.
Xp should be given to the individuals contribution, so things like kills, healing, capturing resource points and keeps, capturing Elder scrolls, and completing the various quests in Cyrodiil.
loved how siege warfare worked in DAoC and was wanting another game to have it so hearing this one will have it made me very excited. but if your in Cyrodil and no one else is there for you to fight, or if your inj an alliance that is OP and runs it your probably not gonna get as much PvP XP as you would if you were in an underdog and allways fighting alliance. theres no XP in Peace Time.
Well I would want to get level ups from PvP but want it to be a side thing where you can enter it instead of being placed in PvP automatically, if this makes sense.
Of course, I wasn't suggesting or asking for everyone to HAVE to PvP. It's really just a question of will you be able to "keep up" with people who PvE full time if you're PvP'ing. I understand obviously that there are always going to be PvE mobs around, and that will likely not be the case in PvP. That leads one to think that if a Player can kill mob after mob after mob repeatedly, and another Player in PvP only gets 1 kill to every 10 the PvE player gets, the XP of killing the player should be 10x that of killing a mob.
