Should They Legalize Marijuana Where You Live ?

Everyones talking about the "Green Rush" right now It's on the national news and Jimmy Fallons joking around about it on late night television. Marijuana is coming to be main stream nowadays. It's only a matter of time before it's not so frowned apon and accepted on the same merit as alcohol socialy.

Marijuana is legal here in Colorado for recreational use, it went into effect as of January. Happy New Years. You are allowed to legally grow six plants as long as they are out of public view. You may posses the harvest of all the plants grown own your residence. You can posses up to 1 ounce of Marijuana on your person in the public. You may only ingest it in private. We have been warned not to drive the local police have had special training to reconize those that are under the influence.

If your willing to stand in line you can purchases different strains like you were choosing a fine wine for dinner. Residents here may purchase 1 ounce and out of state visitors may purchase up to a quarter ounce with no strings attached. The tourists are already rolling in to partake and go snowboarding. Good thing the Frito Lay plant is here so there will plenty of Doritto’s and bean dip on hand.

I thought I’d never see the day that marijuana would be legal anywhere that I lived.

So what are some the pros and con here, considering the legalization of Marijuana where you live? Anyone from Amsterdam ?

I live in Alaska. A lot of people from all sorts of socioeconomic backgrounds smoke pot. Even if it is never legalized, people will continue to turn a blind eye to it here.

:D

Don't know how the mods will handle this, but here's my 2 cents. Good on yer. I wouldn't be surprised to see NY to follow in your footsteps in the next decade.

One thing I'm curious about. How are they handling arrest cases that took place before January 1 , but haven't been to trial yet?

Before the thread gets locked for political talk...

Yes. Legislation has been proposed in PA to allow medicinal use...so it's coming sooner or later.

I 've heard that it was legal in Alaska for residents to posses . It might have just been a myth to a us in lower 48. I also heard that everyone gets a check just for living there.

Personally, I look down on drugs, including cigarettes, so I'd personally like to destroy their existence. However, as long as people don't do it near me, I can tolerate it. Sadly, I live in a house with three cigarette smokers. I deplore the smell of cigarette smoke, but I'm digressing. I live in Mississippi, so given this is the Bible Belt, I don't foresee legalisation coming any time soon.

I would appreciate it, as would many others.

I doubt the police would be in favour of legalising it, as they would be losing out on an excuse to molest young women and teenage girls in their war on drugs. The politicians who could make such a decision are more into cocaine, and are safe to indulge in their habit in the privacy of their own homes, and they've never cared what the little people want, anyway.

I can't speculate on that But I will report back if I find out . I imagine they would dismiss the charges.

Of course marijuana should be legalized. It would discourage people from acquiring the ganja from shady people and getting in trouble for possessing it. It's a no-brainer.

Since this is illegal in 48 out of the 50 states, and most of the rest of the world, we can't discuss this here. Sorry.
