Is the symptom of a game lock up same as CTD?

Hello,

Are these generally the same thing that causes either? I've been doing a bit of casual testing of my mod list, things for the most part seem to be running smoothly, but on occasion I'll can a rand up lock up, not a CTD and I need to control-alt-delete force close the game.

They all similar root causes.

The main issue is, if it's a bad enough crash, the system can't shut down the process, and if you look at the Task Manager you will probably see the Skyrim process using a ton of RAM when it locks up. If the system can shut down the process, then it will, as it is designed to.

It would be interesting to test (not sure how) if one is more CPU or GPU related.

I was using skyrim performance monitor and it was using fairly low resources. No where close to max. The lock ups occur during battle or like when a draugr wakes from a tomb in exterior areas occasionally. It isnt common though n not consistent

I am curious, use Safety Load in your MOD line up and see if it Crashes to desktop. IF you are using SkyUI, the UI wil start to look weird right before the crash.
