Who actually uses these things. I recall finding my very first scroll, the fireball scroll in the first real dungeon. I looked at the scroll, saw the value of it, and laughed at the thought that I would actually use the thing when it was much better for me to just sell as loot. Much later on I did try to use some scrolls, just because I was playing a mage at the time and felt like I should. For a long time I could never get the spell off, couldn't figure out want I was doing wrong. Then I did get one off and nearly killed myself with it.

They just seems so pointless. In the time it takes to read one I can usually just whack something with a sword and kill it. Add to that their general weight to value ratio and they make some pretty nice loot.

So does anyone actually use them?

I cannot answer. The closest would be option #2 if it was worded otherwise. I keep some scrolls in my inventory in case I need them, not "for those rare opportunities when they really help". This description is too negative. You don't like scrolls, okay, but your point of view shouldn't show in the options.

I normally sell them. But I keep them at low levels if I find a Fireball scroll.

I sell them as well. Once i build my HF house I'll keep a few around for decoration.

My warrior and thief characters carry around scrolls of BotU, Blizzard, Conjure Storm Atronach, Fire Storm, Mass Paralysis, and Spiders.

I usually only keep master level scrolls before I can cast them and sell everything else.

I almost never use conjuration but those summon scrolls come in handy in a tight spot.

And WTH is the deal with Blizzard scrolls hurting me?

If I had the ability to make scrolls by the use of enchanting, then I feel that I might use them more often.

But usually, they're just another lovely way to become richer.

Didn't knew about that. Still, only spider scrolls? I wouldn't mind creating a Hysteria scroll if I had both the skill for Illusion and Enchanting.

That's how I almost killed myself. Fighting some death lord thing and I thought I'd be clever and cast a Blizzard scroll from behind a pillar while my summoning was fighting the DL. I couldn't believe I actually got the scroll to cast ... and then I suddenly realized I was about to die from frostbite ... WTH

I don't use them but I have a character who collects them....eventually I want to have a room full of scrolls like an eccentric scholar

Not even the spider scrolls? Those are the only I've ever used as they're fun to play around with.

not even those magical spider grenades.

Never use scrolls for the most part, although a "Conjure Shelter" scroll did come in handy when an unexpectedly long snowstorm hit when I was travelling up in the Winterhold area. Frostfall and all that you know.
