Whats the best stone for archery?

Post » Sun Jan 19, 2014 1:27 am

Ive just bought Skyrim again after a couple year hiatus, and I'm wondering what is the best stone for archery?? I'm thinking thief stone, but as i said it was a couple years ago since i last played so maybe the glitches have been ironed out since then and there is a more beneficial stone now, i have the legendary edition of skyrim.

Being that archery is in the warrior class, I'd start with the warrior stone until level 20 or so, then switch to a different one of your liking. Id only do it this way if archery would be my main means of dealing damage. I'd want to level it as quickly as possible. But thats just me.

Oh by the way, welcome to the forums. Here's your fishy stick!

The warrior stone helps archery if you have the unofficial skyrim patch; in vanilla Skyrim, it's "ruled" by the thief stone.

...which I wish I'd discovered earlier, as all my archers have been using the thief stone all this time...

Archery falls under the Thief Stone....you can use that to boost the skill a bit faster but I prefer the Steed Stone to make your armor weightless and able to move faster as an archer should be nimble.

I must've missed something then. I thought it was always listed under the warrior stone. The UESP says warrior.

Archery levels up very quickly on its own. Personally I would pick the stone which reflects the choices of your other skills. You'll be using Archery alot and it will level up very quickly regardless of whether you pick the Warrior Stone.

Yeah, it's a confusing mess. The Warrior Stone is supposed to increase combat skills, and Archery is listed as a combat skill - but all the footnotes and bug notes say that Archery is affected by the Thief Stone instead (unless you have the USKP).

But as Some Idiot said, Archery levels up fairly quickly on its own, if you focus on using it as your main combat skill. Tony, if you have the USKP, use the Warrior Stone; if not, use the Thief Stone.

Maybe. Whatever. Welcome back to Skyrim!

Edit: BTW, my personal experience using the Thief Stone wasn't a great one. Long story short, my character level outpaced my combat skills, meaning that I ended up fighting baddies that outclassed me in almost every way. There are ways to avoid that (like paying for training in Archery and Light Armor), but just wanted to give you a heads-up.

Also BTW, the Lover's Stone gives a flat 15% exp. increase to all skills. Check out http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Standing_Stones for more info on the stones.

It depends. The Lady Stone (Lake Illinata) Increases Stamina and Health Regeneration by 25%, which I've found useful for the zoom feature, and trying to regenerate health lost by snipers.

Edit: Oh, and get Faendal as a follower and do the archery trainer glitch.

I always thought it was affected by the warrior stone.

I like to use the Lovers stone, which increases all skills 15%.

Atronach Stone is best, that magicka absorption is OP and makes fights against mages MUCH easier. It is good for ANY class

The best thing to do is to get Aetherium shards and make the crown. Then you can mix and match two stones at the same time.

But it takes some doing. The quickest I did it was at level 25.

My favorite combo is Steed and Atronach, cause i'm picking alot of stuff and don't use magic (good protection against it is a must).

Steed stone is for my money the best, most useful stone in the game. For an archer especially, u can wear heavy armor and sneak without the weight penalty and when they get closer

you have good protection.
