Could the Great Khans have been inspired by Mongol MC?

The Great Khans dress a bit like bikers and they name themselves after the Mongol Empire. They reminds me of the notorious motorcycle club (m.c.) called the Mongols.

Originally started by predominantly Mexicans living in California who couldn't get a place with the Hells Angels MC back in 1969 (though they also recruited many whites having the same problem). They grew rapidly in numbers and made strong drug and arms ties with the powerful Mexican mafia.

They made headline News back in 2002 when a conflict broke out between themselves and members of the Hells Angels in a Laughlin Casino, Nevada which resulted in one Mongol and two Angels left dead and many others injured.

For those that have watched Sons of Anarchy may know that SAMCRO is loosely based on the Hells Angels founding chapter and the rival Mayans are loosely based on the Mongols

The artists and writers for Fallout must draw on inspirations from somewhere. I wonder if the Great Khans were somehow inspired by the Mongol MC in anyway as it seems a bit coincidental.

Both major American gangs
Biker clothing
Both modelled themselves on Mongol Empire

What do you think?

No, the Khans are inspired on the Mongolians, not an MC. This can be seen in their graffiti, looking like Genghis Khan. They don't wear 'biker' clothing, just the atypical 'badass' leathers one imagines a group of tough guys in the Wastes wearing. Look at their helms, they're made to look like Genghis Khan's helmet and live in yurts. So no, it's just the Mongolians as inspiration. The only thing the Mongols MC have in common with them is the name and a pic of a Mongolian on their patches.

Again, you're trying to connect the dots to dots that ain't there bro. Just because the Mongols use a model of Genghis Khan doesn't mean anything, it just helps stimulate the point that they're both two separate entities with inspiration from Genghis' Mongolians, not Genghis -> Mongols -> Great Khans.

The Khans started out as one of the groups from Vault 15. A Vault full of people from different cultures. Other groups were The Vipers, Jackals an the people who founded Shady Sands (NCR).

The people behind the Khans might have even been from Mongolian ancestry or read a http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Pretty_Pretty_Horsies%3A_A_History_of_the_Mongol_Empire

Point is they took their inspiration from the Mongolian people's from Mongolian. Not from some biker gang who also happened to be called Mongols.

I'm not so sure Papa Khan and the Great Khans are trying to look like the Mongols quite in the way that Caesar want the Legion to look like Rome. To me they still look more like a modern (biker) inspired street gang.
